fopieserve the Water Works which convey
Water from Turkiieti’s Spring, and for oiliei
purposes
WIIEBF.AS, the City Council, hy theii
agreement made and entered into with
flioinas McGran and his associates, on the 19th
lay of March 1828 to convey water into the
.city, did covenant “ to pass and enact from time
to time, such Ordinances as may be proper ami
necessary to preserve such waterworks from
ibase and injury, and also to prevent the un
•leeessaiy use of Hydrant water.
'See. Ist. Be it therefore ordained, by the cit
council of Augusta, that any person who shall
wilfully injure any of the water pipes or hydrants
within the corporate limits of the city, shall oil
cmviction e fined in a sum not exceeding one
hundred dollars.
.Sec, 2d. And be it further ordaii -“d, Thafany
pet son or persons, who shall drat water from
the Hydrants in the streets, except itti the per
mission of (tieowner of the works, or for the
purpose of extinguishing fire or for the use of
some of the fire companies, may be lined mi a
s tin not exceeding fifty dollars
Sec. 3d.-And be it mrtherorda ned, that anj
person or persons, who may have contracted foi
the use of the water of Tuiknetts spring on his,
her or their lot or lots, who shall in violation of
his, her, or tUeir contract, draw or permit to he
drawn more of sai l water than Is necessary, for
the use of his her. or their family, may be fined iu
a sum not ex-•oeding fifty dollars foi every offence.

To amend An Ordinance passed the J4th May,
1831, entitled an Ordinance to levy a tax on
DOGS, kept within the city of Augusta.
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained, by the City Council
of Augusta, that ihe return required by the Or
dinance passed the 14th May 1831, be and tlie
same is hereby suspended, until the ant)uaftax
return for the year 1833; when it shall be the
duty of all persons resident within the corporate
limits of the city, to make his, her or their re
turn, and annually thereafter on oath, of all
Dogs, kept on which a rax is levied by the pro .
visions of said Ordinance. ,
Sec. 2d. And beit further Ordained, That the
7th section of (he said Ordinance be and the
snm - is hereby repealed.
Done in Council, the 24th day of July 1832.
