Military Encampment.
TITtTH i view to the promotion of Military
Science, and the encouragement of Vol
unteer Corps, a system of Annual Encampments
is proposed. Arrangements are in progress for an
'extensive Encampment in this neighborhood, to
commence on the second Monday in May next,
in which all the Volunteer Corps of Ihfantsy in
the State are respectfully invited to join us. The
time proposed for the continuance of the encamp
ment is ONE WEEK. A beautifttl location has
Iteen selected, commanding an extensive view of
the town and surrounding country. An arrange
ment has Jieen made for the construction oifcom
fortable Tents and Marquees tor the accommo
dation of a> many Companies ns may come. A
Contract has been made with individuals who will
act as Sutlers and furnish the men with good
board on the ground at 76 cents each pet day.
On tha last day an Kncampnieht Medal will be
1 shot for. The first of the proposed series of En
campments took place near Macon last ipring,
and was attended with much benefit to the Com
panies present.

Wednesday and Friday at 6o’clopk, A. M.
and arrives at Wythe Court House at 6o’clock,
P. M. the next day. At the same hour that the
Stages leave Salem, they also leave Wythe Court
House and arrive at Salem at 6 o’clock P M.
on Tuesdays, Thursdays and This
Line is so arranged as to correspond in its ar
rivals at Wythe Court House, with the arrivals of
.the Great Lines leading through the valley of
Virginia.—lt also correspond in its arrivals at
Wythe Court House with the arrivals of a tri
weekly line running between that place and the
Salt Sulphifr, the Red Sulphur k White Sulphur
Springs in Virginia, which has been lately estab
lished.—At Salem h correspond* with the ar
rivals of Smith’s Prednient Line, and the Raleigh
Line, both of which run three limes a week. The
Route pass sees, witliiu a mile of the Pilot Moun
tain tluongh Bethunia Bethabara by Monnt. Air
y, crosses the Blue Ridge at Ward’s Gap, goes
by Poplar Camp Furnace and the Lead Mihesof
Wythe, and * Sturts some interesting scenes to
those that admire the sublimity of nature. The
of diet, lodging, kc. are excel
lent and cheap. The subscriber hesitates not to
recommend his teams and drivers as first rate.
His coaches are most excellent—being newly
procured from Troy. New-York
Fare through the whole route 5 dollws—wav
passengers 6$ cents a mite.

to baggage and other things entrusted to his care,
but the subscriber will not be liable for acci

ON or about Wie 31st of November last, the
subscriber lost, his ROCKET BOOK,
somewhere between VVarrentou and Sparta,
containing among other things, one hundred and
seventy dollars, in South-Carolina Bank Bills ;

AN ACT
To preveut the circulation of Bank Bills
under the denomination of Five dol
lars, within this State.
Whereas, the circulation of Bank Bills
of a small denomination, has been produc
tive of fraud and loss to the public, and
hat a tendency to prevent or retard the
General and speedy restoration of a spe
cie currency.
Be it therefore enacted by the Senate
and House of Representatives of the Slate
of Georgia in general assembly met, and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of
the same, That from and after the first
day of September next, ii shall not be law
ful for any Bank or body corporate, in
vested «it h banking privileges, or'person 1
or persons, whomsoever, withiu the limits
of this State to, issue, emit, pay away, pass
or circulate any 'Bank Bill, Note, Ticket,*
or paper, purporting to be a Bank Note,
or of the nature, character or appearance
ofa Bank Noie„or calculated for circula
tion as„a Bank Note, eittiqr of (he Banks
of this State or of any other State, of a
iess denomination than Five dollars.—
Provided, that nothing herein contained
shall be so construed, as to make it unlaw
ful for any corporation or person or per
sons whomsoever, to’present for payment,
or in any other mode, transmit for sedem
tion to any Bank either of this or any o
ther State,any Biljor Bills of such Bank
of the denomination aforesaid, remaining
in circulation after the lime aforesaid, with
the view and in the mode to stop the
future circulation thereof.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by
the authority .aforesaid, That any Bank
or Corporate Body, or person or persons
whomsoever, offending against the pro
visions of the first section of this act’,
shall forfeit the sum of One Hundred
Dollars, to be sued for in the name of
the State, By any I teemed Attorney, on
the application of any informant cogni
zant of such offence, who shall be a com
petent witness oo the trial', and recover
ed by an action of debt or on the Case,
in any court of competent jurisdiction in
this State, with full Costs, one half where
of whed recovered shall be paid to the
use of the State, and the other half to
the. use of the informer.
Sec. 3. And bo it further enacted.
That each. and every issuing, passing,
paying away, or circulating, of eacb and
every such Bank Bill or Note, as is spe
cified in the first section of this Act, con
trary to the spirit; true intent, and mean
ing thereof, shall constitute anew, sepa
rate and distinct offence, and shall be lia
ble to anew, separate and distinct penal
