Military Encampment.
WITH a view to the promotion of Military
■ Science, ami the encouragement of Vol
unteer Corps, a system of Annual Encampments
is proposed. Arrangements are in progress for an
extensive Encampment in this neighborhood, to
commence on the second Monday in May next,
in which all the Volunteer Corps of Infantry in
the State are respectfully invited to join us. The
time proposed for the continuance of the encamp
ment is ONE WEEK. A beautiful location has
been selected, commanding an extensive view of
the town and Surrounding country. An arrange
ment has been made for the construction of com
fortable Tents and Marquees lor the aocommo
dation of as many Companies as may come. A
Contract has been made with individuals who wilt
act as Sutlers and furnish the men with good
board on the ground at 75 cents each per dav.
On the last day an Encampment Medal will be
shot for. The first of the proposed series of En
campments took place near Macon last spring,
and was attended with much benefit to the Com
panies present.

month, and from casualties could not be
drawn. The proprietor in the first time

leavetill after the 2d Monday in January.
Threfore he has uot had time to sell as
many of the Tickets as he wishes. He

many thanks, and could he bestow cash

shall make, unless he draws before that
lime. The drawing shall be final.
It is due to those who have bought
Tickets to be informed that the money is
in tire hands of respectable . Agents, and
in the hands of the Treasuter of the Su
perfntehdants. Who will return it to
purchasers, should the Lottery, by any
unforeseen circumstance, nut ire drawn.

tributed into three divisions.
The first, the Southern Division, under the

Assistant, will compiise the States of

Columbia,) Louisiana.
North Carolina, Arkansas Territory.
South Carolina, Tennessee,
Geoigia, Kentucky,
Florida Territory, Indiana/
Alabama, Illinois,
Mississippi, Jlissouri. *
The second, the Northern Division, urtfer the
superintendence of S. R. Hobbik, Assistant, will
comprise the States of
Maine, New York,
New Hampshire, New Jersey,
Vermout, Delaware,
Massachusetts, Alary land,
Rhode Island, Pennsylvania,
Connecticut, Ohio,
and Michigan Territory.
2d. Each of these Divisions shall embrace an
office of Appointments and Instructions, and an
office of Mail Contracts} the office of Mail Dep

signed four Corresponding Clerks, two for the
office of Mail Contracts, and two for the Office

4th. One of the Corresponding Clerks in each
Division, shall be designated as the principal
Clerk of the Division.
6th. The Senior assistant will he charged with
the business of procuring Mail Portmanteaus,
Cany ass Bags, Locks and Keys, ami with all
the incidental duties. A clerk shall l>e as-igneri
to aid him in their performance, who, under the
direction of the Assistants, respectively, s all
keep the registry of the checks countersigned
by them.
6th. The business of forwarding Blanks for
Accounts, Locks. Keys, Post Office Lists. Laws,
&c. shall be performed under the direction of
the Assistants, within their respective Divisions.
7th. The principal Cl-rk of the Division only,
shall sign official correspondence, and that, in
case of the absence of the Assistant
Bth. Ihe third division, will be that of finance,
under the superintendence of the Chief Clerk,

Department. There shall be under his control
fbe “Book Keepers,” tne “Solicitor’s Office,”
the “J*ay Office.” the “Examiner’s Office,’’the
"Register’s Office,” and the "Dead Letter Os
fice, to the last of which shnlt be attached the
bu-iness of the general letter file.
9th, No money shall be paid info the Depart
ment. directly to the Treasurer, nor paid out of
it, directly by him.
