In future,.the following rules and regulations are to be observed : l.t Tile duties of the Assistant Postmasters General, Chief Clerk and Subordinates, are dis trilruted into three divisions. The first, the Southern Division, under the superintendence of C. K. Gardner, the Senior Assistant, will comprise the States of Virginia,(with the Di t.of Columbia,) Louisiana, . North Carolina, Arkansas Terfttory, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida Territory, Indiana, Alabama, Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri. The second, the Northern Division, under the superintendence of S. R. Hobbie, Assistant, will comprise the States of Maine, New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Vermont, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, and Michigan Territory. 2J. Each of these Divisions shall embrace an office of Appointments and Instructions, and an office of Mail Contracts; the office of Mail Dep utations to remain as at present organized, aux- iliat y to both. 3.1. To each of these Divisions shall be as signed four Corresponding Clerks, two for the office of Mail Contracts, and two for of Appointments and instructions, a Contract Clerk, an Appointment Clerk, a Route Book Clerk, a Recording Clerk, and Clerks for regis tering orders, fines and other miscellaneous dati s. 4th. One of the Corresponding Clerks in each Division, shall be designated as the principal Clerk of the Division. sth. The Senior assistant Will be charged with the business of procuring Mail Portmanteaus, Canvass. Bags, Locks and Keys, and with all the incidental duties. A clerk shall be assigned to aid him in their performance, who, under the direction of the Assistants, respectively, s .all keep the registry of the checks countersigned bv them. -• u . . . *6th. The business of folWnrding Blanks for Accounts, Locks, Keys, Post Office Lists. Laws, &ic. shall be performed under the direction of the Assistants, within their respective Divisions. 7th. Be it theieforo enacted by the Senate and Hooso of Representatives of the State of Georgia in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after tbe fust day of September next, it shall not be law ful for any Bank or body corporate, in vested with banking privileges, or person or persons whomsoever, within the limits of this State to issue, emit, pay invay, pass or circulate any bank Bill, Note, Ticket, or paper, purporting to be a Bank Note, or of the nature, character or appearance ufa Bank Note, or calculated tor circula tion as a Bank Note, either of the Banks of this State or of any other State, of a less denomination titan Five dollars.— Provided , that nothing herein contained shall be so construed, as to make it unlaw ful for any corpoiaiiOfi or person or per sons whomsoever, to present for pavmeut, or in any o'lier mode, transmit for ifedem tiou to any Bank either of this or any o ther State,any Bill or Bills of such Bank of the denomination aforesaid, remaining in circulation after the itue Aforesaid, with the View and in the mode to stop the future circulation thereof.
