Military Encampment.
WITH a view to the promotion of Military
Science, and the encouragement of Vol
ume r Cmps, a system of Annual Encampments
is proposed. Arrangements are in pr >gress for an
extensive Encampment in this neighborhood, to
commence on the second Monday in May next,
in which all the Volunteer Corps of'lnfantry in
the State are respectfully invited to join us. The
time proposed fur the continuance oi the encamp
ment is ONE WEEK. A beautiful location has
been selected, commnad| tJ gitn extensive view of
the town and surrounding country. Ail arrange
ment has be.u-mail« for the- ooiislruction ot com
fortable Tents and Marquees for the accommo
datum of as many Companies as may come. A
Contract has been made with individuals who wdl

On the last day an Encampment Medal -wilt be
shot for. The first of the proposed series W £n
' campments took place near Macon last spring,
and was attended with much benefit to the Com

Whereas, the circulation of Bank Biffs
of a small denomination, has been produc
tive of fraud and loss to the public, and
has a tendency to prevent or retard the
General and speedy restoration of a spe
cie currency. g
Be it therefore enacied by the Senaie
aod House of Representatives oflhe State
of Georgia in general assembly met, and
it is hereby enacied by the authority of
the same, That from and af er the first
day of September next, it shall pot be law
ful for any Bank or body corporate, in
vested »ith banking privileges, or person
or persons whomsoever, within the limits
of this State to issue, emit, pay away, pass
or circulate any bank Bill, Note, Ticket,
or paper, purporting to be a Bank Note,
or of the nature, character or appearance
ofa Bank Note, or calculated for circula
tion as a Bank Note; either of the Banks
of this State or of any other State. ■•>( a

petent witness on the trial, and recover
ed by an action of debt or on the Case,
in any court of competent jurisdiction in
this Slate, with full costs, one half wiiere
of when recovered shall ba paid to the
use of the State, and the other half *|U>

That each aud every issuing, passing,
paying trtvay, or circulating, of each and
every such Bunk Bill or Note, as is spe
cified in the first section of this Act, con
trary to the spirit, true intent, and mean
ing thereof, shall constitute anew, sepa
rate and distinct offence, and slfali be lia
ble to anew, separate and distinct peoal
ty.

ported Wrangler—who was by imported
Dinmcd the sire of Sir Archey. The
Pedigree of Quidnunc is not only Jirst

AN ORDINANCE
TO regulate tlie weighing of Fodder, llay
and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained by Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hny and £>ats
brought to this city in wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed nt the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market
Skc € 2d. Be it further ordained, That it shall
he the duty of the clerk of thg lower market to
superintend the weighing of all Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sun set. And tha party selling snch Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay t*..thejaid clerk fifty cts
oi each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 3d Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may he fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
