in their favor: It was their design to induce our
Legislators to form a more'perfect and efficient
Militia system. The present organisation is
discreditable to the country. The militia should
be placed under good officers, and drilled, like
Volunteers, monthly, as stiLtly as the Laws
would authorize. Do this, and those, who blush
for the inefficiency of this national arm, would
ceise to throw ridicule on‘what they have'been
unible to cufe by' argument.

A LITTLE GIRL, five years old, with fair
skin, blue eyes, light hair, and a remark
ably pleasant countenance, named CAROLINE
HAWKINS BULLOCK, who can read very
well, was lost on the 16th March, six miles east
of Courtland, near the road leading to Decatur.
Hundreds of men have searched in every direc
tion throughout the neighborhood, and no trace
of her can be found. The above reward will be
given for her delivery, aind any information re
specting her whether dead or alive, thankfully
received.
