Military Encampment.
WITH a view to the promotion of Military
Science, and the encouragement qf Vol
unteer C.,rps, a system of Annual Encampments
is proposed. Arrangedients are in progress for an
extensive Encampment in this neighborhood, to
commence en the second Monday in May next,
in which all the Volunteer Corps of Infantry ill
tb.a State are respectfully invited to join us. The
time proposed for the continuance of ihe encamp
ment is ONE WEEK. A beautiful location has
been selected, comm inding an extensive view of
thg-town and surrounding country. An arrange
ment has been made for the construction of com
fortable Tents and Marquees lor the accommo
dation of as many Companies as may come. A
Contract has been made with individuals who will
act as Sutlers and furnish thr> men with good
board on the ground at 76 cents each per day
(Jo the last day an Encampment Medal will be
shot for. The first of the proposed series of En
campments took place near Macon last spring,
and was attended with much benefit to the Com
panies present.

To preveut tho circulation of Bank Bills

lars, within this State.
Whereas, the circulation of Bank Bills
of a small denomination, has been produc
tive of fraud and loss lo the public, and
bars a tendency to preveut or retard the
Geoeral noil speedy testoraliod of a spe
cie currency.
-Be it therefore enacted by the Senate
and Houso of of the Stale
of Georgia in general assembly met, and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of
the same, That |foui and after the first
day of September next, it shall not be law
ful for any Bank or body corporate, in
vested with banking privileges, or person
or persous whomsoever, within the limits
of this State to issue,'emit, pay away, pass
or circulate any Bank Bill, Note,
or paper, purporting to he a Bank Note,
or of the nature, character or appearance
ofa Bank-Note, or calculated for‘ciidila
tion as a Bank Note, either of the Banks
of this Stain or of pny other Slate, of a
less denomination than Five dollars.—
Provided , that nothing herein contained
shall be so construed, as to make it unlaw
ful for any corporation or pefson or per
sons whomsoever, to present for payment,
or in any other mode, transmit for tedem
tion to any Bank either of this or any o
ther State,any Bill or Bills ofsuch Bank
of the denomination aforesaid, remaining,
in circulation after the .ime aforesaid, with,
the view and in tho mode to stop ilru
future circulation theredf.
Sec. 2. Aod be it further enacted by
the authority aforesaid, That hoy Batik
or Corporate Body, nr -person or persons
whomsoever, offending against tlia pro
visions of tho first section of this act,
shall forfeit the suin of One Hundred
Dollars, to be sued for in tho name of
the State, by any licensed Attorney, on
the application of any informant cogni
zant of sucb offence, who shall be a com
petent witness on the trial, and recover
ed by an action of debt or on the Case,
in any court of competent jurisdiction in
this Slate, with full costs, one half wbeio
bf when recovered shall be paid to tiro
use of the State, aud the other half to
the use of ihe informer.
Sec. 3. And bo it further enacted.
That each and every issuing, parsing,
paying away, or circulating, of each and
every such Bi«ik Bill or Note, as is spe
cified in the first section of this Act, con
trary lo the spirit, true intent, and mean
ing thereof, shall constitute anew, sepa
rate aud distinct offeuce, and shall be lia
ble to anew, separate aud distinct penal
ty-

Augusta in wagons, or carts for sate by weight.
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained by the City Gomicil
of AUgUcta, 3 hat all Fodder, Hay and Gats,
brought to this city In w agons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for (hat
purpose near the lower market.
► Sec. 2d. B« it further ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing of alt Fodder, Hay and
Oats, nt all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sun set. And tha party selling such FodJer,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fifty cts.
ot each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec.’ 3d- Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, moy be lined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
