COMMUNICATED.
Extract from a private communication of
Maj. Downing,
Rip Raps, 6h Aug. 1833.
Dear Colonel, — Yours reached me
u hile niy iaiageoition was hallucinated
with a thousand Kimerals. That infer*
nal Bank and Deacon Biddle has nearly
done for me. But that’s not all—the
Gmeral aint satusfyed—says he to me,
•• Major, you want axpareance, and I’ve
a plan in my head that will d>» the thing,
says I, •• and Gineral and what is it ?’*—
Says he to me, “ Major, you must go
South and practice upon them infected
Banks, and then drap in upon the Deacon
like a clap of thunder in a clear sky.”—
Bat it’s all in me eye, they aint going for
ketch Squire Biddle in a stew —may be
he isn’t the cutest feller ever you saw,&
as for that fellow Clayton, the Squire
says, laughing, “ Major, he won’t do.” —
Says I, “and why,Squire ?” ”Oh !”
says the Sq tire, “ he’s too green—why
between you and me,Major, he overlook
ed the very thing, that would have done
the job for me.— H-n ever, he’s done for”
■ Well, as I atn to tramp South,
look out, I’m camming 4 Sept, and I want
you u ingame Paul Pry of Providence
Range as an assistant. Tell him the
Gineral calculates on him. He must rap
that noddle of his, for I shall want to
propagate a few slandeis. I’m to have
an order on the war department f-»r all
the Banks in the South, and 1 intend to
deploy in a coup of the mane on the M.
& P’s Bank fit st, and have a thorough
examination, arrive at the real state of af
fairs, remove the Government deposits
from Savannah and pay all the Bill Hol
ders—advertise all the Slock for sa.e, ex
cept what belongs to the little ones, and
the Gineral thinks they may keep theirs
for marriage portions. Kindal has been
suspended and I am to do the thing vt et
armies. Go yuur g.iff for Crafford, as 1
intend to put down rattifacation. —Tell
all the Candidates, if they don’t com' 1 uni
and show themselves that I shall repre
sent the Coumy myself. The Gineral
thinks that D<»vy Kr. ckeit has grinned at
Kindal—but that ain’t it.—Kindal’s a
Nullifier. We shall be off from he<e in
a day or so as the fgs begin to disagree
with the*Gineral."
KENTUCKY.
The Lexiog’on Intelligencer of Au
gust 16’11 says—“ Were we ever dispo
sed to exult over political opponents,
when succcess crowns our effotts, we cer.
tainly should have good cause, in the
result of the Congressional Elections
which have just terminated in Kentucky.
1 hey exhibit a triumph of National Re
publican principles, cheering to every
well wisher of our counity, and of its in
aiiluiions.” Further, says the same pa
per—“At the last Congressional Election
we succeeded in electing fotlr out of
twelve members to Congress: the pres
ent .Election has resulted in the choice
of ten National Republicans out of the
thirteen to which Kentucky is entitled.”
IFAaf a Kitchen is and is not—Now a
kitchen is nobody’s ptemises!—a kitchen
is not a ware-house, nor a wash.house, a
brewhouse, nor a bakehouse, an inn
house, nor an out-house, nor a dwelling
house. No ! ’ris absolutely and bona fide
neither more nor less than a Kitchen ! or,
as the law more classically expresses, a
kitchen is—camera necessatia pio usus
cookare; —cum saucepannis, stewpannis,
scullero. dressero, coalholo, stovis,smoke
jako; pro roastandum, boilandum, fry an
