an ORDINANCE
TO regulate the weighing of Fodder, Hay
and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight.
Sxc. Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city in wagons or carts for sale,
Shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose lower market. .
Sec. 2d. Be it further ordained, That it shell
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing of all Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the day, from sun rise till
sun set. And tha party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fifty cts.
or each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
3xc. 3d- Be it further ordained, That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
Done in Council the 6th day of Dec. 1832.’

Road Company have in opera
tion 105 miles of their Rail Road, (of which 62
miles is the route for the Columbia Mail Passen
gers,) and will, on or before the first of October,
1833, open the entire Road, extending from
Charleston, 3. C. to Hamburg opposite Augusta,
(Georgia ) Distrthce 136 miles.
The Passenger train which leaves each place
every morning, will at that time perform the en
tire passage daily, arriving on the evening of
the day ot departure.
Fare through, including 75 lbs. baggage, $6
75. For a less distance 6 cents per mile.
Two meals at 50 cents each taken on the Rpftd.
The present portage of 30 miles by stages,
will on the first September be reduced to 12
miles.

NOTICE.
THE subscriber having recently taken out
letters patent from the United States for a
new principle of applying Anitnnl power, which
I call the Accelerator; the discription of this
machine is such that it can be applycd to Mills
generally, where animal power can be applied.
J offer the following statement to the public to
show that 1 have proved the power of my ma
chine, I erected a temporary mill, with one
saw, to which I put 2 horses, (the horse* were not
accustomed to work in a circle,) and sawed thro’
a fourteen inch log with more ease than two
horses can Gin in the common mode of applica
tion; the horses being removed, eight men worked
the machine, and cut at the rate of thirteen hun
dred fa efhty feet per day —Say that one third
of the time is lost in returning the log and put
ting on fresh logs, the machine is then adequate
tasaw eight or nine hundred feet per day with
two horse*.
