this last sale, we have not been directly inform
ed by the parties, but have every reason to be
lieve in its correctness. It was a choice lot of
old crop, >JB33) and there is not another lot in
market that would command that price.
SWe continue our last weeks quotations, with

MOBILE, May 2.
COTTON.—The receipts since our last re
view are 3,097 bales and the exports 6,949; —
Which leave? the stock on hand, including all on
ship board not cleared, 23,999 bales.
The demand for cotton in the ealy part of the
week was not animated,it being held at prices
which the purchasers were unwilling to accede
to, but few sales were effected until the receipt
of Liverpool accounts to the 24th of March.
These brought a better feeling into the market
together with an improvement in prices of *to
* ct. per pound, in all the grades. Sa'es have
been made to the extent of 2,500 bales, and
would have been much larger, had not the stock
on sale been very light.
We advance our quotations to correspond
with the transactions of the last two or three
days. The week closes with a firm market.
