Parewcll! my more than fatherland!
. Home of my hetilt dnd friends adieu !
Lingering beside some foreign strand,
How oft shall I remember you !
How often o’er the waters blue,
Send back a sigh to those 1 leave,
The loving and beloved few,
Who grieve fur me, —for whom 1 grieve.
We part!—no matter how we part,—
There are some thoughts we utter not,
Deep treasured in our inmost haart,
Never revealed, and ne’er forgot!
Why murmur at the common lot 1
We part!—l speak not of the pain,—
But when shall I each lovely spot,
And each loved face, behold again ?
It must be months, —it may be years,—
It may—but no! I will not fill
Fund hearts with gloom,—fond eyes with tears,
41 Curious to shape uncertain ill.”
Though humble, —few and far, —yet still,
Those hearts and eyes are ever dear;
Their’s is the love no time can chill,
The truth no chance nor change can sear !
All I have seen, —and all I see,
Only endears them more and more;
Friends cool—hopes fade—and hours flee,
Affection lives when all is o’er !
Farewell my more than native shore!
I do not seek or hope to find,
Roain where I will, what I deplore
To leave with them and thee behind!
I DREAM OF ALL THINGS FREE.
BV AHIS. ll EMans.
I dream of all things free!
Os a gallant, gallant bark,
That sweeps thio’ the storm and sea,
Like an arrow to its mark !
Os a stag that o’er the hills
Goes boundingin his glee;
Os a thousand flashing rills—
Os all things glad and free.
I dream of some proud bird,
• A bright-eyed mountain king!
In my visions I have heard
The rustling of his wing.
I follow some wild river,
On whose breast no sail may be;
Dark woods around it shiver—
I dream of all things free!
Os a happy forest child,
With the fawns and flowers at play ■
Os an Indian midst the wild,
With the stars to guide his way:
Os a chief his warriors leading,
Os an archer’s greenwood tree—
My heart in chains is bleeding,
And I dream of all tl ings free!

THE Subscriber begs leave to inform the
public that she occupies the House well
known as the Western Hotel, standing on the
corner formed by the south side of Green-sircct,
and the western side ul Centre-street. It is
well adapted to the accomiao iation of day
boarders ; and its retirement from the bustle of
the town renders it favorable to those who wish
to attend the Law and Medical Lectures. She
hopes, therefore, that she will receive a liberal
