the island occupied by the stock keepers, on.* of
which has a framed building of 18 by 28 feet,
and the oilier ttvo, buddings of 15 by 20 feet
each, exclusive of out buildings This island in
my opinion is well worth the attention of any one
who wishes an insular situation, being healthy
and a compact property; also capable of work
ing of 25 hands lo advantage and leaving
a trieuniel change of fresh land. There can he
no doubt of the soil being ell adapted to the
culture of cotton—I have had two effd industrious
negroes on the island for four years, more as
stock keepers than as workers, and they have lor
the three lart successive years provided me with
three heavy bales of Sea Island Cotton, ilic sla-
pie much approved and admired by purchase) s.
Three fourths of this belo »gs to an es'ate, the
other fourth to myself, but to ac :ommo late a

Savannah River Lands.
Cherry Hill for Sale.
• Valuable Plantation in Bryan county, sititat-
ou ed on the south side of the Great Ogeechee
river, about 5 miles below Hill’s Bridge, and 20
miles from Savannah, containing two hundred and
ninetv acres of nver swamp of the first quality,on
an excellent pitch of tide, two hundred of which
are cleared and under dams; and three hundred
and filly .seven acres ol high land of mixed quali
ties one hundred and fifty of wliich are cleared
and fenced. There are now growing on this plan
tations, crops ot cotton and rice, by the appear
ance's of which the qualities of the lands under
cultivation may be estimated.
There are a large and commodious barn, ma
chine and machine house, cotton, corn and gin
houses alt nearly new; an overseer’s house, a
comfortable dwelling house, stables, chair house,
he. negro houses for the accommodation of from
50 to 60 negroes and one of the best springs ot
water in the low country. There is also attached
to Cherry Hill a tract of five hundred acres of
pine land, from which all the lumber, rails, staves,
Ike to be used on the place, may be procured.

appurtenances, were mortgaged hy the Trustees
of the Savannah Theatre to the said William Jay,
by deed, bearing date the twenty-third day of
February, in the year one thousand eight hundred
and nineteen, to secure the payment of the sum
of fourteen thousand nine hundred and sixty dol
lars. with lawful interest on eleven thousand dol
lars, from the firsi of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighteen; and on three thousand
nine hundred and six'y dollars, from the first of
December, eighteen hundred and eighteen, ac
knowledged thereby to be justly due and owing
to the said W illiam Jay, for his advances in com
pleting and finishing the said Theatre, for the ma
terials for the said building, and the hire of labor
ers and workmen, on or before the date of the
said deed of mortgage, and which said mortgage
was afterwards assigned to the said Richard Rich
ardson, for a full and valuable consideration, as
stated in tiies'd-l petition. And that there is now
due and unpsi.l on the said debt and mortgage,
the sum of fourteen thousand und ninety dollars
and eight cents of principal, with the interest
thereon, from the twenty-fourth day of March,
eighteen hundred and nineteen.

for the said Richard Richardson. It is ordered, that
the principal, interest, and costs, due upon the
wid mortgage, be paid into court within twelve
monthuf root this date, or that otherwise, the equi
ty of redemption in the said mortgaged premises,
