The founder of this new city, calls him.
sell Jesus Christ; bnt is the same person,
who formerly went by the neme of M'Donrid
a tailor by profession. He ia about fifty
rears of age small stature, and £ head ia
somewhat bald. He has been preaching
occasionally in this place, for about twelve
months, the doctrine of uvtxo ronxvsa in
this world, in oar present shape 1 He says
he is the Christ, because he was tbe first
that embraced the doctrine ofliving forever
on this earth—he quotes many parta of the
biUe, to show if we have yura, we * shall
never die,” and says," God surely will not
lie:” adding, that many of the disciples of
the former Christ never died, or that tbe
qible furnishes no evidence of the fact—
He takes the bible'as his guide, and is con
versant with evey chapter and verse therein.
He possesses good natural talent*, but his
education it quits limited, He was former
ly a Roman Catholic, and tome say a priestt
but the latter we are inclined to discredit.
Tbe centra of this new Jerusalem ia ritu
ated about half a mile from our little village,
built in the ahape of a tent, with little polea
about two or three inches in circnmlerence,

habitation. We found the old gentleman
