T HE Brigadier General has heard with regret,
that in the execution ot a late Brigade order
directing patrol duty to be vigilantly performed
for a certain time, that much irregularity, and im
propriety of conduct, hus been manifested, and
some outrages c< mmitli\l iu the county of Liber-
ty, not contemplated by the order, or authorized
by law, or the occasion.
It is therefore ordered that the commanding of-
Acer of the 2nd Regiment do forthwith make dili
gent enquiry, as to the facts alledged to have been
committed, and fomish the necessary information,
to the civil authority, in order that tbe offenders
may be dealt with according to law.

have to remark, that nis statement is false and er
roneous, in as much, that l was never asked to sell
out, or make any assignment of property belong,
ing to me—neither was 1 asked to dissolve our
connection in partnership, which was to be con
tinued for three years from 3d Opt. 1822, under
bonds—and this Co-partnership has never been
revoked. Tbe assignment he alludes to in his
piece, I know nothing aboat. The state of my
health was such for many weeks before 1 left
here for the north, to unable me to perform any
transaction in business 1 therefore protest •
