Whereas great injury may arise to the naviga
tion of this river, from the frequent practice of
removing quantities of sand from the top of Uie
Bluff, and in order to prevent the working down
ol quantities of sand into the river, thereby injur
ing the wharves
lie it therefore ordained by the Mayor and Al
dermen in council assembled, and it is hereby or-
dtmred by (heauthority of the same, that it shall
not be lawful for any person or persons, whatso
ever to rertuive any sand from the bank of said
bluB) for UiepurpOiWof mixing with lime or to
fill up any place, except it be from below said
bluff* purt or parts of white sand for the purpOsr
of sanding the fiuot oftttiy house or houses, and
for no other purpose whatsoever.
Sec. 3. And be it further ordained by the au
(bority aforesaid, That it shall be the duty of-the
Maishal or city Constables to prevent all persons
wbnTsoever from violating tins -ordinance and d
lay information to council against ail and eveiy
violation thereof.
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained by the u-.thority
aforesaid, Tlmt any person or persons violating
this ordinance, on conviction thereof, shall be fined

ing that Thomas R Broom, by his certain
writing obligatory, bearing date on the sixth day
of June 1822, acknowledged himself to be.held
and firmly bound and obliged iii him in tlie)ienal
sum of eight hukdrotl dolian, conditioned tor ihe
paytnent of tlie sum of four hundred dollars on
or brtbre tlie first day of June 1823, and that for

said sum of money, the said Thomas R. Broom
by his certain deed of mortgage bearing even
date with the said bond, had mortgaged Vo him
all that lot or parcel of land in Chatham county
