induced a 'change of culture—of this upwards of

plantation, is a large comfortable dwelling house,

Whereas great injury may arise to the naviga
tion of this iWr, from the frequent practice of
removing quantities of sana from the top of the
hi ;ff, and in order to prevent the working down
■>• quantities of sand into (he river, thereby injur
ing'.he wharves
Be it therefore ordained by the Mayor and Al-
iurme:t in council assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by the authority of the same, that it shall
not be lawful for any person or persons, whutso
ever to remove any s.-.nd frohj the bank of said
bluff, for the pufpoiesof mixing wiih lime or ti*

Sec.,2. And be it further ordained by - the an

See. 3. Be it further ordained by the .outhomy
aforesaid, ’Hint any person or persons violating
this ordinance, on conviction thereof, sWall be fined
in a sum not exceeding thirty dollars.
Sec. 4. And be it turth-.-r ordained, That al
ordinances or parts of ordinances militating against
this ordinance be and the same is hereby repeal
ed.
