mill, and keep her supplied, will liuve 200 tier

An Ordinance,
E NTITLED an ordinance to prevent as much
as possible the removal of any part ot the
*»• .ll'ot this city.
Whereas great injury may arise to the naviga*
t on of tips river, from the frequent practice of
■•(••moving quantities of sand from the top of the
"Bluff, and in order to prevent the working down
■ quantities of sand into the river, thereby injur
ing the wharves'
!!<- it therefore ordained by the Mayor and Al-
fievmen in council assembled, and ii is hereby or
dained by tlie authority of the same,• that it Shall
. ot be lawful for any person or persons, whatso
ever to remove any sand from the bank of said
Bluff for the purposes of mixing with lime or to
:i'l up any place, except it be from below said
bluii'u part or parts of white saml for the purpose
of sanding the Hoot of any house or houses, and
for no other purjjose whatsoever.
Sec. 2. Arid be it further ordained by tlie au
thority aloresaid, That it shall be the duty of the
Marshal or city Constables to prevent all persons
whatsoever from violating this ordinance arid h
lay iniormution to council against all and every
violation thereof.
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained by the authority
aforesaid, That any person or persons violating
Uris ordinance, on conviction thereof, shall be fine-:
in a sum not exceeding thirty .dollars.
Sec. 4. And be it further ordained. That all
ordinances or parts of ordinances militating uguinst
this ordinance be and the same is hereby repeal
ed.

v/ mg that Thomas R Broom, by his certain
writing obligatory, bearing date on the sixth day
of Jape 1822, acknowledged hiiriself to be held,
and firmly bolind and obliged in him in the penal
sum of eight hundred dollars,- conditioned for the
pay merit of the sum of four hundred dollars on!
or before ifie-first day of June 1823, arid that for
the better securing to him the payment of the
said sum of money, the said Thomas R. Broom
by his certain deed of mortgage bearing, even*
date with the said bond, had mortgaged to hiijj
all that lot or parcel of land in Chatham county
and state aforesaid, known in .thd pjdn of the said
county as Garden lot number eighty, (80) east;
containing eleven, and ope half acres more or
less, bounded on the north by the Thunderbolt
road and lands of James Bilbo, on the south by
i..nds of John Screven,' and 6n the west by h'
road leading to lands of-eol. James Johnson and.
others—amt further stating that there is now due
and unpaid on the said bond and mortgage'lie
principal sum of four hundred dollars with in#
tcrest from the sixth day of June, eiglveen hun
dred and twenty two, and praying the foreclp-
sure of the equity of redemption of the said
-Thomas 11 Broom,’in and to. the sard mortgaged,
promises On motion of Habersham, attorney
for the petitioner,,it is ordered, that .the princi
