4 *' .rtf' be- 'Jr-# r-' : - % - /»• Extract of an Ordinance Relating to Dogs. r Skc. 6. «ind 6e it ordained, That, no dog shall be suf fered to go at large, in any street, lane, or other open' place, in this city, without a license first taken out from' the office of the Clerk of Council, by the owner of such dog; and there shall be a collar around the neck of each dog, so licensed, with the name of the owner engraved and numbered, as entered in the registry, for which li cense the owner shall pay to the City Treasurer, the sum of two dollars per annum, to and for the use of the city; and the sum of twenty-five cents to each, the Clerk and Treasurer as their fees. Ssc. 7. And be it further ordained, That if any dog shall be found going at large within the city, without hav ing been registered as aforesaid, and without such collar, it shall be the duty of the Marshal and the Consta bles of the city to kill and destroy such dog; and, if any person, whether he be the owner of such dog or not, who shall, by threats or direct violence, prevent such officer from destroying such dog, he, she or they shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars. Police Office, Savannah, November 19, 1816. The great annoyance to the citizens generally, created by the increased and increasing number of dogs, within the limits of the city, renders it necessary that the fore going sections of the ordinance relating to dogs should be enforced. It it therefore ordered, That the City Marshal and Constables proceed, on and after the expiration of forty- eight hours, to kill and destroy any and every dog going at large within the limits of the city, in violation of said ordinance. STEELE WHITE, nov 21 139 Mayor, pro, tem Bank of Georgia. |PTt being deemed expedient by the Board of Directors, that another Instalment of the Stock of the Bank of the Jtate of Georgia should be called in, and that the Stock, holders should be required to pay a proportion thereof in specie. Notice is hereby given, that, agreeably to a resolution of the Directors of this date, twenty-three per centum on each share, of the Stock of the Bank, is required to fie paid by the Stockholders, on or before the second Monday in December next; that five dollars, in specie, be paid on each share, as part of the said twenty-three per cent, end the balance in bills of either of the Banks of Georgia. The Stockholders are further notified, that Cashier’s Certificates of Stock will be issued in lieu of the Com missioners’ Certificates, held by the Stockholders, upon the delivery of the Commissioners’ Certificates, at th« time of paying the Instalment, as above required. Western Stockholders are informed, that they may pay aid Instalment, and receive their Sfock Certificates, on delivering die Commissioners’ Certificates, at either of Qie Offices established at Augusta and Milledgeville, so ■Aon as they shall be in operation, which willl be in a •Wort time. Whereas, it is represented, that it will be more con venient to many of the Stockholders, that the time pre scribed for the payment of the Instalment of twenty- three per cent, which includes the five per cent of specie, directed by the board, on the 20th September, 1816, diould be extended.
