Letter* received at Curracoa from St.
Thomas of the 12th and 14th ult. contain
accounts from Gunyana to the 29th Sep
tember, from which tiic following arc ex
tracts:—*‘Gn the 25th of September, gene
ral Bermudez marched from tiuaynna, at
the head of four thousand men, for the
purpose of uniting with general Zaraza,
whom he fell in with at Chagiiaramas, with
•a numerous division of infantry and caval
ty, their united forces were to march up
on Caracas. General Bolivar inarched be
tween the 8th and 10th, with a body of
troops equal in number to those of Ber
mudez, for San Fernando de Apure, which
{were to unite with those under Pj.cz. The
number of gun-boats that liave tieun con
structed is very great? they will protect
the Orinoco, falicitatethe operations of tin-
patriots by water, and aid in the invasion
of the coast of Venezuela: they are well
equipped, and sail remarkably fast. Wi
are ignorant of their destination, because
the government preserves the greatest si
lence in this respect to its plans atjil ope
rations. General Arismendi goes with the
' gun-boats, but we cannot say if he will
command the expedition.”
FROM 8T. LUCIE.
Captain Dougail, of the schooner Chart,
arrived at this port this morning from St.
Lurie, confirms the melancholy statements
which we heretofore had of the destruction
.occasioned at that place by the late hurri
cane. The governor, a major of the army
.and his family, and many others had per-
> islieil. The governor’s house was literally
J. jbtown to pieces, and many stoiv." building'
arere destroyed or excavated by the vio
lence at the wind, as a rem.trkabfc instance
of which captain O. states the topmast ut a
schooner was blown over 7 houses before
it fell, anil that a cannon on the battery
was actually slewed round—every vessel
in the harbor wa* blown on shore, and few,
if any, will be got oflf. He states that th-
place presents a sceue ofruinand distress,
which it is almost impassible to describe.

which had been brought over from Amelia, an.
bonded in St. Mary's were seized by tiie deput

marshal in the execution of his duty met with eon
