AN ACT CONCERNING NAVIGATION.

tieth of September nest, the ports of the Unite.:

vessel owned wholly or in part by a subject or
subjects <>f his Britannic majesty, coming or ar
riving from any port or place in a colony or terri
tory of his Britannic majesty, that is or shall be,
,by the ordinary laws of navigation A trade, clos- *

Stater; and such vessel, that in tiie course of the
voyage, shall hare touched at, or cleared out from,
anv port or place in a colony or territory of Great
Uritain, which shall or may be by the ordinary
laws of navigation and trade aforesaid, open to
qesscls owned by enixint of the U. States, shall,
nevertheless, be deemed to have come from the
S ort or place in the colony or territory of Great
Intain, closed as aforesaid, agiinst vessels owned
by citizens ol the United States, from which such

next, the owner, consignee, pr agent of every ves
sel owned wholly or in part by a subject or subjects

duly entered in any port ofthe United States, and
on board of which shall have been there laden for
exportation any article or articles of the growth,
produce, or manufacture of the U. S. other than
S rorisions and sea-stores necessary for the voyage.

Powelton JLcademy.
The pabHs exanination of the Students in
Powelton Academy, will commence on Monday,
the 1st June next, and be continued on Tuesday;
and the term will close with a public exhibition
on Wednesday, the 3d. The patrons of the In
stitution, and the public in general, are respect
fully invited to attend.
The succeeding term will open on Monday,
the 22d June, under the rectorship fit Mr. Smith,

tinue in that station for a scries of years. Miss

The village cf Powelton enjoys'a high, agreea
ble and very healthy situation. The Society of
the place is eminently moral; too small indeed
for frequent scenes of riot and dissipation, but
sufficiently extensive for the improvement of the
youth’of bodi sexes, wiio resort here for the pur
pose of education.
