Goods not hazardous are such as are usually
kept in dry good stores; including also household
furniture and linen, cotton in bales, coffee, Hour,
indigo, pot-ash, rice, sugars, and other articles not
combustible.
The following trades, goods, wares and mer
chandize, are considered hazardous, and ate charg
ed with 12} cents per S100, in addition to the
premium above named for each class, viz:
Cliair-makcrs, Chocolate-makers, Sail-makers,
Tavern-keepers, Tobacco-manufacturers, China,
Glass, and Earthen-ware in packages, Bookseller,
stock, chip and straw hats, uax, hemp, groceries,
including spirituous liquors, oil, pitch, saltpetre,
tar, turpentine.
The following trades and occupations, goods,
wares and merchandize, are deemed extra hazard
ous, and will be charged 25 cents and upward,
ptr glOO, in addition to the premium above spe
cified, for rach class, viz:
Apothecaries or Druggists, Boat-builders, Coach-
makers, Soap-boilers, Tallow and Ship chandlers,
Cabinet-makers, Carpenters in their own shops,
or in buildings erecting or repairing. Chemists,
Chins, Glass and Earthen-ware sellers, Coopers,
Dyers, Founders, Musical instrument-makers,
Jewellers, and all manufactories requiring the use
of fire heat; aqua-furtis, ether, gun.powder, spir
its of turpentine, bay, straw, fodder, and grain un
threshed.
Mxx—Grist-mills, fulling (mills, paper mills,
saw mills, and other mills, distilleries, bakeries,
breweries, malt-houses, printing offices, book
binderies, and sugar refineries, will be insured at
special rates of premium.
N. B. Country bouses, standing detached from
other buildings, though of the third class, will be
insured at ICO centa per one hundred dollars.—
Barns and Stables, In the country at 125 cents per
one hundred dollars.
(iy Ships in port, or their cargoes; and ships
bujldingor repairing, may be insured against fire
Applications for insurauce on property out of
the city of New-York, must be ra writing, and
specify the construction and materials of the build ■
big to be insured, or containing the property to
be insured; by whom occupied; whether as a pri
vate dwelling, or how otherwise; its situation with
respect to contiguous buildings, and their con
struction and materials; whether any manufactory
is carried on within or about it; and, in case
of goods and merchandize, whether or not
they are of the description denominated haz
ardous or extra hazardous. And if any person
insuring any building or goods in this office,
shall describe toe same otherwise than as they
really are, so that toe same be insured at less
than the; rate of premium specified in the print
ed proposals of the company, such insurance shall
