Since the last Georgia Justice was printed, ma ny yean have elapsed, In the course of which our laws must hare undergone radical changes. This circumstance, together with the increased papula tion of the state and the augmentation of civil offi cers of every kind, render another edition not on ly desirable, but almost indispensable. To supply the wants of the community in their partieidar, the editan of the Journal, about two months past, is- sued proposal! fur publishing “A new, and great- hr unproved, Georgia Just ice’?—comprising, in ad dition to the usual nutter, the duties of clerk*, sheriffs, coroners and couaialiles, tax-collectors and receivers of tax-returns, executors, adminis trators and guardians, various useful forms, and other valuable information. Prom the liberal en couragement already received, it is probable the requisite number of subscribers will be obtained, tu ensure its publication. The utility of such a work, if faithfully execut. ed. no one can doubt. In this respect, weean on ly repeat the assurance, that our best exertions will be used, and no expense will be spared to make it equal public expectation; and render it worthy of general patronage. The great labor attending (be compilation, and the time which will be afterwards consumed in revising it by compe tent legal characters, being determined to have the work as perfect as human skill and industry can make it, will protract it* publication to a la ter period than we wished. We caanot, in an swer to the numerous enquiries on this subject, promise its appearance till the Utter part of next year, when it will certainly be ready for delivery to subscribers. The longest period has been star ed, to prevent disappointment. In a country like ours, where the people have so Urge a share in the management of the govern ment, and where many citizens are occasionally oiled upon, by the demiaeof relatives and friends, to the performance of other interesting duties be sides those they owe their country, it is all-impor tant that the mass of our free population be cor rectly informed, respecting the laws under which they live. Perhaps no better method can be de vised for the attainment of tliia end, than by fur nishing those intrusted with the management of the affairs of deceased persons,_and particularly that class of useful citizens. Judicial and ministe rial officers, who have to bear the burden of de ciding petty disputes^ with a cempcud of the law, and the forms by which it is administered. Such is the object of the work now offered to tite public. We only ask in its behalf, a support commensurate with its obvious utility.
