Office on the Bay, about 30 rods west of the Exchange, in the rood) over the Store lately copied by kb. Joseph Depass. OLIVER STEELE. Savannah, Sept. 3, 1813—z— A New Georgia Justice Since the last Georgia Justice was printed, ma ny years have elapsed, in the course of which our laws must have undergone radical changes. This circumstance, together with the increased popula tion of the state and the augmentation of civil offi cers of every kind, render another edition not on ly desirable, but almost indispensable. To aupply tbe wants of the community in their particular, the rditors of tbe Journal, about two months past, is sued proposals for publishing "A new, and great ly improved, Georgia Justice”—comprising, in ad dition to the usual matter, the duties of clerks, sheriffs. coroners add constables, tax-collectors and receivers of tax-returns, executors, adminis trators and guardians, various useful forms, and other valuable information. From the liberal en couragement already received, it is probable the requisite number of subscriber! will be obtained, to ensure its publication. The utility of such a work, if faithfully execut. ed, no one can doubt. In this respect, we can on- ly repeat the assurance, that our best exertions will be used, and no expense will be spared to make it equal public expectation; and render it worthy of general patronage. The great labor attending the compilation, and the time which will be afterwards consumed in revising it by cotnpe- tent legal characters, being determined to have the work as perfect as human akill and industry can make it, will protract its publication to a la- ter period than we wished. . jVe cannot, in an- swer to the numerous enquiries on this subject, promise its appearance till the latter part of next year, when it will certainly be ready for delivery to subscribers. The longest period has been stat ed, to prevent disappointment. In a country like ours, where the people have large a share in the management of the govern ment, and where many citizens are occasionally called upon, by the demise of relatives and friends to the performance of other interesting duties be. aides those they owe their country, it is alUmpoJ- tant that the mass of our free population be cor- rectly informed, respecting the laws under which they live. Perhaps no better method can be de vised lor the attainment of this end, than by fur nishing those intrusted with the management of the affairs of deceased persons, and particularly that class of useful citizens. Judicial and ministe rial officers, who have to bear thd burden of de ciding ;>etty disputes, with a eempeud of the law, and tne forms by which it is administered. Such is the object of the work now offered to the public. We only a«k in its behalf, a support commensurate with its obvious utility. Persons holding subscription papers, will please return them as soon as they are El'rd. Journal office, -lf< ledgeriL'e. Aug 22—X—178/ Notice.
