ELLIS' COMPOUND
Kreosote Tooth Wash.
Recommended by the Faculty.
T HIS compound will bo found serviceable in
arresting and preventing decay in teeth;
keeping the teeth end gums in a healthy nnd dean
condition ; sweetening the breath; removing tar
tar, and relieving pnin caused by enrious teeth.
Few discoveries in modern chemistry promise
more important resulU than that of Kreosote, by
Dr. Reichenbnch, an eminent chemist of Diana-
ko, in Monrovia. It is a highly rectified liquid
product, obtained from wood, nnd is analogous to
charcoal in iu antiseptic properties, but far more
powerfiil as a corrective and pt%ventive of de
cay. Chnrtsoal, notwithstanding its well known
deansing properties, is objectionable ns n denti
frice, on account of iu insolubility, and the risk
of minute particles remaining between the teeth
and producing injury. Kreosote, on tho contra
ry, cannot be liable tolhiB objection, and posses
ses, to a much greater extent, the antiseptic and
purifying properties of the former. The trials
which have been made with it, in this country
and Europe bare peered its efficacy.
It it struugly recommended by tho Faculty as
the best preventive against curies in teeth. To
Rweeten the breath, rendered offensive by decay
ed teeth, the uso of tobacco, or other causes, aud
to arrest decay itself, it stands pre-eminent.
Ellis's compound Kreosote Tooth Wash, com
bines the virtues of Kreosote, of the strength
adapted for this purposo, with other substances
known to bo highly advantageous in whitening
and preserving the teeth.
It Is confidently recommended to the public as
a valuable compound, which may bo used daily
with groat advantage to the teeth nnd gums, at the
same time leaving an agreeable sensation in tho
moblh. There is no acid in this wash, nor any
ingredients entering into its composition, but
such as are highly beneficial to the teeth.
It has boon examined and used by several of
the first Physicians of this city, who have no lieii
tation in recommonding if ns an excellent wash
for the teeth and guma, preventing the latter from
wocoii ing spungy, und, by its detergent nnd an
tiseptic qualities, preserving both in a clean nnd
healthy condition. Forsnleby
