no decided preference is its pleasantness, hav
ing none of the nauseating e(Tecta of common
drugs. »
In all dyspeptic symtomi, costiveness, irregu
larity, distress after meals, pains in the side and
torpidity ofthe liver, tliecure is perfect, and any
,0110 so afflicted will become immediately convin
ced on using it, that he has at last found a “sover
eign balm for his wounds.” Females are particu
larly recommended to use it for costiveness or ir
regularity, nnd other female complaints. It is
proved to correct vitiated and disordered humors
keeping the stomach in most perfect order. Those
persons who after an evenings indulgence at par-
lies, Ac. have headache and dullness tho next
day, will find this a sure preventive if taken at
bed time. For all common complaints, in a few
days its virtues will be self-evident, and a complete
cure will soou bo effected. When a person has
n cold and feels unwell, generally a free use nfit
for a few days will be sure to* relieve without
physic or pills. To children it may be given with
tho greatestndvantage.
In all ncidity or sourness of stomach this remedy
is sovereign nnd invaluable; os a general family
medicine it is notv adopted by many of the mo»t
respectable familes. It never sickens the stomach
or produces any of tbeunpleasauteffecisofnhysic.

I S highly beneficial iu all diseases ofthe stem

The effects of excess in eating or drinking are

to persons who, from a sedentary lift), or other
cutises, are undor tho'frequeut necessity of hav
ing recourse to laxatives. To persons of a bil
ious or a gouty habit, it may bo recommended
with peculiar propriety: and its virtues have been
repeatedly testified in the diseases of warm cli
mates. Many ofthe complaints of children, in
early infancy, nnd even at more advanced peri
ods, are attended with acidity; and in such cases,
the Calcined JH“Snesia has a great advantage
over other absorbents, viz: that it both neutrali
zes the acid in the alimentary canal, and urta as
an efficacious yet gentle fiurgative.

Human Hair.
T HE diseases of the hair among ns are those
which occasion boldness and gradual fulling
off of the hair, nnd thinness of it—the causes of
which arise from many disorders, especially fe
vers; perspiration, which extends tho nores, re
laxes the roots, causes the hair to fall off, and of-
ten occasions total baldness. Baldness ims ever
been esteemed a great defect. Itgcnerally arises
through violent exercise, from whence nrise per
spirations, which too frequently occasion a loss
ofthe hnir—it relaxes the roots—tho ncidity pre
vents the fluid acting ou the hair, which occas-ons
it to waste. For instance, after a violent perspi
ration the hair becomes dry, it feels extremely
harsh, and no elasticity in it whatever; therefore,
to prevent its taking an effect on tho hair, first
rub the Imirdry with n cloth, then apply the Cns-
sndn Oil to the roots of tho hnir, so that tho skin
of the head mny he moistened, nnd remnin so af
