Sept. 29,1840. oct 9 244U Rowand’s Tonic Mixture, or Vegetable Febrifuge, A specific ana lasting euro for Fever nnd Ague. Hn!US worthy remedy earnestly repels the slur JL of being a quack medicine, it having been tiie result of many yenrs study, experience nnd Inbor, in the medical practice nnd observation of Fever and Ague. It is composed of such medi cinal principles os were considered most fit to re store tliehnriuony ofnetionbetween the stomach, liver, and the other imhnrlant functions of the system, the loss of which harmony is evidently the immediate cause of the disease. It speedily'pro- moles n regular nnd healthy appetite which is generally entirely destroyed or rendered very precarious; by which effect, vigor nnd strength is soon afforded to the whole system. It must be apparentto all. that a medicine possessing these peculiar virtues, is useftil in a great vnriety of complaints. By renewing the healthy action of the digestive organs, it hag proved itself of re markable benefit in dyspepsia, depraved appetite, heart-burn, water brash, flatulency,Jaundice, night sweats, dysentery, bowel complnints, and allottier affections of similar origin, but it is in Uie treatment of Fevers, nnd especially in Fever aud Ague, or Remittent Fever, that its powers have been principally tested, and with those who have seen Us usefulness, it is pronounced sover eign to all remedies heretofore discovered fo those diseases. It has also been used as a pro vetitive, by many who were subject to n periodi cal recurrence of the chills and fever, nnd it has always wardod off the apprehended attack. It Wll»"de«Wod' Wtft dhiHropbr t«* «*©««. pony (ho vegetable febrifuge with a few of tho many uno- quivocal certificates politely furnished to tho pro- prietor.corroborattv* ofthe Coregoing statements. ELLISk COMPOUND Krcosofe Tootli Wash. llccomintndcd by the Faculty. - T HIS compound will hu found serviceable in arresting und preventing decay in tenth; keeping the tenth nnd gums in n healthy nnd clenn condition ; sweetening the breuth; removing tar tar, and relieving pnin caused by carious teeth. Few discoveries in modern chemistry promise more important results than that of Kroosote, by Dr. Reiclieiibnch, an eminent chemist of Blans- ko, in Monrnviu. It is a highly rectified liquid product, obtained from wood, nui] h analogous to charcoal in its antiseptic properties, but far more powerful a* a corrective and preventive of de cay. Charcoal, notwithstanding its well known cleansing properties, is objectionable n* n denti- fricu, on account of iu iu*oli|btlily r -nnil tho risk of minute pnrticle* remaining between the teeth and producing injury. Kreosote, on the contra ry, cunnot be liable to this objection, ntid posses ses, to a much greater extent, tliunuliseptic and purifying properties of the former. The trials which have been made with it. in this country and Europe have proved ita eificncy. It is strongly recommended by the Faculty as the best preventive against caries in teeth. To sweeten the breath, rendered offensive by decay ed teeth, the u*e of tobacco, or other causes, and to arrest decay itself, it stands nra-eminent. Ellis's compound Kreosote Tooth Wash, com bines tho virtues of Kreosote, of the strength adapted for this purpose, with other substances known to be highly advantageous in whitening and preserving the toeth. t . It u confidently recommended to the public as aviii.ii.hiO compound, which mny bo used daily with great advantage to the teeth and gums, at the samo time leaving nil ugreenblo sensation in the tnoutli. There is no acid in this wash, nor any ingredients entering into its composition, but such u* are highly beneficial lo tho teeth. It lias been examined and used by several of tho first Physicians of this city, who have no hesS tation in recommending it as nn excellent wash for tlie tooth nnd gums, preventing the latter Rant becoo ing spungy, und, by its detergent and an tiseptic qualities, preserving both in a clean arid healthy condition.
