Few discoveries in modern chemistry promise more important results than flint of Kreorote, hy Dr. Ucichunlmcl), an eminent chemist of Blnns- ko, in Monrovia. It is n highly rectified liquid product, obtained from wood, and isnimlogensto charcoal in its antiseptic properties, but far more powerful us n corrective and preventive of de cay. Charcoal, notwithstanding its well known cleansing properties, in objectionable ns n denti frice, on account ofits insolubility, and the risk of minute particles remaining between tho teeth nnd producing injury. Kreosote, on the contra ry, cannot be liable to this objection, nnd posses ses, to n much greater extent, the untisnlitio and purifying properties of the former. The trial* which have been tirade with it, in this country and Europe have proved it* efficacy. It is strongly recommended by the Faculty ns tho best preventive against cartes in teeth. To . sweeten thn breath, rendered offensive by decay ed teeth, thn use of tobacco, or other causes, ami to arrest decay itself, it stands pro-ominont. Ellis's compound Kreosote 400th Wash, com bines thn virtues of Kreosote, of tho strength adapted for this nnrposo, with other substances known to be highly advantageous in whitening und preserving the tenth. It 1* confidently recommended to the pnhlicas a valuable compound, which may ha used daily with great advantage to tho teeth and gums, at the same time leaving un agreeable, sensation in tho mouth. There is uo acid In this wash, nor any ingredients entering into its composition,.but such ns nre highly beneficial to the teeth.
