T HIS compound will lie found serviceable in
arresting and preventing decay in .teeth;
keeping tho teeth and gum# in a healthy nhd clean
condition ; sweetening the breath; removing tar
tar, nnd relieving pain caused by carious teeth.
Few discoveries in modern chemistry promho
more important results ihuti that ofKreosote, hy
Dr. Keicheithach, an eminent chemist of Blan*-
ko, in Monrovia. It is n highly rectified liquid
product, obtained from wood, nnd is Analogous to
charcoal in its nutiseptin properties, hut far moro
powerful ns a corrective nnd preventive of de
cay. Charcoal, notwithstanding its well known
cleansing pro pities, i* objectionable n# a denti
frice, on account of it* insolubility, rind the rink
of minute particle# remaining between the teeth
und producing injury. Kreosote, on the contra*
ry, cannot ho liuhle to thi* objection, and posses
ses, to a much greater extent, the antiseptic and
purifying properties of tho former. The trial*
which Imvo been made with it, in this country
nnd Enrnpq hnve proved its efficacy.
It is strongly recommended hy tho Faculty ns
the best preventive against caries in teeth. To
sweeten the breath, rendered offensive by decay-
ed teeth, the use of tobacco, or other causes, and
tn arrest decay itself, it stands pre-eminent.
Ellin's compound Kreosote. Tooth Wash, com- .
bines the virtues of Kreosote, of the strength
adapted fov this purpose, with other substance*
known to bo highly advantageous in whitening
and preserving the tenth.
It I* confidently recommended to the puhlib n*
a valuable compound, which may hu used daily
with great ndvnntnge to the teeth nnd gnms, nt tho
same time leaving an agreeable sensation in thn
mouth. Thero is no acid in this wash, no( any
ingredients entering- into iu composition, bat
such a* are highly beneficial lo the teeth.
It has been examined and used hy several of
the first Physicians df this city, who have no hesi
