Few discoveries in modern chemistry promise
more important results than that of Krno«ote, by
Dr. Reiclieiihnch, no eminent chemist of Blnus-

charcoal in its antiseptic properties, hut fur more
powerful as a corrective mid preventive of de

mid producing injury. Krensoto, on the contra
ry, cannot be liable to this ofi|ection, and posses
ses, to a milch greater extent, the antiseptic nnd

which have been made with it. in this country
and Europe have proved it* efficacy.
It i» strongly recommended by tlie Faculty as
the best preventive against caries in teeth. To
sweeten the breath, rendered offensive hy decay
ed teeth, tho use of tobacco, or other onuses, and
to arrest decay itself, it stands pre-eminent.
Ellis's compound Kreosote Tooth Hash, com
bines too virtues of Kreosote. of tlie strength
adapted for this purpose, with other substances
known to ho highly advantageous in whi'ctiing
nnd preserving tlie teeth.
It I* confidently recommended to the publicn.*

with great advantage to the teeth nud gtiins, ntthn
same time leaving nil agreeable euiisatiou in the
mouth. There is no acid in this wash, nor any

“Pellucid Solution of Magnesia.—This very use-
fitlund elegant preparation wo have been trying
for some months, as nil aperient nitti-acid in ’dys
peptic complaints, attending with ncidity nnd
consiipntinti.and with very great benefit. It lins
the advantage over common Magnesia in being
dissolved, and therefore not liable to accumulate
in the bowels. It is decidedly superior to Soda
nr Potash, nn account of it# aperient quality, and
ofits having in* tendency to reduction nffiesh nnd
strength, which the two Onrlumntes above men
tioned certainly tend to, w hen long continued
nnd taken in considerable quantities. IVe hope
Sir James Murray, the discoverer of the process
for preparing this medicine, will tako the trouble
to make it more geuerullv accessible to the public
in this metropolis, there being only one or two
authorized agent* lie^o.”
Sir Humphrey Davy testified, that thl* solution
forms soluble combinations w ith uric acid salts
in cases of Gout nnd Gravel, thereby counteract
ing their iiiiurioustcndeticy when other alkalies
and even Magnesia ilsclfhad failed.

James Murray, tlmt the majority of cutaneous
