The general natures ol the inarkot have under
gone no important chango during the week. Hold
en, have uniformly maintained very toll prices, and
in the middling qualities, in some instances, an ad
vance of J a $o. has been obtained. The transac
tions, however, hare been light, buyers acceding
with reluctance to the views of holders. We quote
ordinary 6 a 6$) middling 7 a 7$} mid. Mr 74 a 74;
Mr 8 a 84.
The tranaactions from Wednesday to Saturday
indualve, reached about 1900 bales. On Monday,
the inclemency of the weather precluded opera
tions, and on yesterday, ( u far as transpired, there
stare no transactions orlmportanco. Wo put down
sales of the week 2000 bales.
Tbe stock on sale ia estimated at something short
of4000 bales, tho receipts of tho wook having been
comparatively of small amount, indicating tho soason

. Wo stated in our review of Saturday morn
lut, that tbe Cotton market had closed.with great
steadiness, although only a small amount of business
hsd been transacted during tho three days previous,
arising chiefly from tlio limited quantity on sale, to
gether with (no high pricos generally demanded by
holder. Since then tlio market has maintained tho
umei quiet character, the transactions of tho past
fewdsysnot havingexcocded 2200. We perceive no
change in prices, although factors havo ondoavored
to obtain an advanco, more' especially on Louisiana
and Miuiuippl Cottons in view of tlio very reduced
stock now on sale, which ia computed at between 7
and 8000 bales of every description in first hands.

THIS Iloud is now in operation from Savannah to
Gordon, a distance of 170 miles, for tlio transporta
tion of Passengers and Freight, daily, (Sundays ox-
cepted.) Tlio Company uxpccts to open the Road
to a point, distant about two miles from Macou, in
tho month of July next, and to havo the cars running
through, to tlie Macon' Depot, early in tlio ensuing
autumn. Tho hour ofdeparture from Savannah,
will bo (until tho first day of July noxt) 64 o’clock,
A. M., und from Gordon 6, A. M. There is » lino
of four-horse post-coachcs from Gordon to Macon,
leaving immediately on tiie arrival of the cars. Pas
sengers who leavo Savannah in the morning, arrive
in Macon on tlio samo day, at 10,1’. M., and can
proceed westward!/, un tlio Monroe Rail Road, the
ensuing morning.. ,
The Coaches Ibave Macon for Gordon every eve*,

The steamers Gen. Clinch and. Charleston, will,

for Charleston ever)' Tuesday, Thursday and Satur
day, nt 6, P. M., after tlio arrival or tho cars,
and perform tlio trip to Charleston in 12 hours. The
steamers Win. Schnrook and Beaufort District, leave
Savannah every Monday morning for Charleston;
and there are two steamers, tho Cincinnati and St.
Matthews, ruuningfrom Savannah every Wednesday
and Saturday, to Florida—the latter touching at" St.
Marys.
