P HCENIX BITTERS AND LIFE
PILLS.—Remarks of tho Public Press.—
From Hit Litelffuld f Conn.) Sun.
Among the many advertised medicines of the day,
there is none more justly celebrated than Moffat’s
Life Pills and Phamix Bitters. Whorcvor intro
duced, they have given entire satisfaction, and their
vltruoa only want to bo moro extensively known to
rendor them a universally approved medicine. We
are not in the habit of puffing to contribute to the
venality of quacka for a douceur, and havo no faith
in their cure-all nostrums. But Mr. Moffat’s Medi
cines aro a different article; his Pills are a good ca
thartic. and his Bitters an excollent tonic. Wo
know them to be so from experience, having used
them ourselves in our family, and so confident are
weoftheir efficacy, that, although we have no au
thority to do so. wo will warrant their giving satis
faction in all complaints for which they aro recom
mended.
From the Gothcn Democrat.
The best medicines for giving fresh vigor to the
system, during the warm weather, are Moffat’s Life
Pills and Phamix Bitters. Groat numbers who
havo mada uso of thorn, find that thoy cloanso tho
stomach of all impurities, and givo a healthy tone to
the system, creato a good appetite, and thereby re
move the languor and feebleness, which oppresses
almost ovary person during tho hot reason. Those
who ore afflicted, nood only to inako a fair trial of
these medicines to bo convinced.
From the Louitville Journal, OcU 13.
At the solicitation of an old friend, wo publish,
with pleasure, in this day's pacer, letter from Mr.
O. L. Smith, of tho firm of Smith, Riddle dt Co. of
this city, to Mr. Moffiit, of tho city of Now York,
proprietor of the “Life Pill and Phamix Bitters.” In
this letter, Mr. Smith gives an account of hisauffer-
inga from a aevero attack of chronic rheumatism,
under which he labored for more than three years,
nnd of hia spoedy cure by tjio uso of tho nforesnid
medicines. A certificate, coming from so respecta
ble a source, cannot fail to have its weight in this
community. Ifthis medicine is found by experience
to effect so immediate a cure ofa complaint so pain-
riil and distressing, in would be highly valuable to
porsons engaged in navigating stontnbonta on our
western rivers. From their constant exposure to
the inclemency of the weather, and from tlio rapidi
ty of their transition from a cold to a warm climate,
and from a warm to a cold one. their ore peculiarly
liable to rheumatic attacks. To them this medicine
may prove an invaluable remedy: one which they
can always keep on hand ior use as occasion may
require.
Ills said that* single doso of three pills, or two
doses at most, will relievo a common cold. Tho
proprietor of tho medioino, through a friend, was so
kind, a low weeks ago, as to sona us a botllo of tho
bitters, and a box of tho pills; and when afflicted
with a severe cold, we havo derived apparently great
benefit from their uso. \Ve do not believo that any
GTwdiwir.i ever hu ... cvc, will he. J.aC ovc.«io,
which, in serious complaints, will superccdo tho
necessity of tho physician’s services, yet wo havo
strong reason to liopo that tho medicine or which
we have been speaking, will provo of groat utility
to tho community.
From the New York Sun.
A Word to Parent*.—All tho mortality you wit
ness among children and youth arises lYom a neglect
of small complaint*. Children will often avoid com
plaint in orocr to avoid taking medicino. Itbc-
ioovos parents, therefore, to watch them closely, as
thoy valuo their health, their vory existence. This
faithfully done, they would never havo any serious
illness. And what is the great hardship nnd incon-
vonicnco, to guard ono’s sell and one’s children from
diseaso, when wo thereby secure our constant hap
piness f A small doso ortho Vogotablo Lifo Medi
cines, administered occassloiully. is all that is re
quisite; and to this end, not an individual among
parents should passed a singlo night without at least
a 26 cent box of the Lifo Pills in tho house. This
mode, strictly followad, will koop whole families in
perfect health;and thoy, will consequently tako loss
of Utla ono medicino in o year, then Is sometimes
required in a singlo week of serious .illness, at tho
hands or a physician. Barents by attending to this
wholesome advico, you will rendor your children
roally hardy, sprightly, nnd intolligant, and nt tho
satna timo improve their looks. " * * *

P OWELL S Balsam of Aniseed, for
Coughs, Colds, Shortness of Breath, Asthma,
dtc.—This invaluable medicine bos tho extraordin
ary property of immediately relieving Coughs, Colds,
Hoarseness, difficulty of Breathing, and hurkincss
in the Throat. It operates by dissolving the con
gealed phlegm, consequently causing a Tree expec
toration. Those who are troubled with thalunpfeas-
nnt tickling in the throat, which deprives them of
rest night after night, by tho incessant cough which
it provokes, will, by taking ono dose, find immediate
relief; and ono bottle, inmost cases, will effect a
cure. In asthma, chronic coughs, difficulty of
breathing, At. nn pen can describe the wonders that
havo been performed by this invaluable medicino;
mnny, who For years, havo been unnblc to lay down
in their beds, without a danger of being choked by
an accumulation of phlegm, (which invariably causes
a dreadful cough); others who with difficulty could
breathe nt all, in n recumbent posture, have, by tak
ing ono dose.oflhis excellent ualsitu, been enabled
to lay down comfortably in their beds.

r A Y N E'S EXPECTORANT.—
This medioino has already proved, itself to be
all it hss brim recommended, bv thoso who have give
it a fWir test in tills county, ami the demand Ibr it In-
crensea daily. We have just heard of an important
cure of Asthma.which has been effected by the use of
it in a neighboring town—the disease was that of a
female who had for ■ long time been tinder the care
of ■ physician, but had received tio relief, and. her
cuo was considered hopeless. Aa n lost retort ahe
purchased a bottle of Dr. Jayne’s Expectorant,
which caused her to expectorate freely, gradually
eased ber cough and is rapidly restoring her t<T
health. Wo have no hesitation in saying that this’
preparation of Dr. Jayne, for tho cure of (’ought, ;
Colds, Influenza, Asthtna, Cnnkuinptiona, dtc. is the
most valuable medicino ever offered to the Ameri
can public. There is no quackery—Dt. Javne is
one of Urn most skilful practising physicians in Penn
sylvania; and wherever hia various preparations
have been thoroughly tested, lie is looked upon aa
a great public benefactor.—SomertrtfAte.) Journal.

C OMPOUND CHLORINE
TOOTH WASH.—The discovery of the
Chloride of Soda, and it* uses by Labarraqne of
Paris, was an addition to iho resources oflnetlicine
°f ij'B utmost importance, as a neutralizing agent. •
To counteract at once the principle of decay
(which commencing imperceptibly, slowly gathers
strength and finally destroys) ia the important ser
vice which can be derived from the use of Chlorida.
of Soda when administered with skill and care.
The diseases of tho Teeth being, in tbo great ma
jority or cases, the result of neglect; and a gradual
accumulation of the principle fabove alluded to, it
became obvious, from the earliest expertnents, that
the Cloride was the proper remedy, and preferable
to powders, dentrificcs. &c. of whatever kind or
pretension. By ■ chemical nnalysis, it will lie (bund
that the greater proportion of the Chlorine Com-,
pounds so extensively in use/io not contain a particle
of the Chloride of Soda, on the agency ol which-
their efficacy must necessarily depend.
The enclosed article is confidently offered to the
examination of tho public as professing, in an emi'
nent degree, the virtue of neutralizing all that is
offensive in the mouth and breath; removing sore*
iicss and sponginess of the gums; destroying the,
taint oftobacco, or any other effluvia from whatever
cause. In short this preparation will bo found to
justify the various commendatory notices and re
commendations it has received. Prepared by Rush-

and restored to health and usefulness. Those hop>
rible diseases, Scrolbla, Syphilis, Caucer, Leprosy,

thousand victims and fill the earth with anguish and
despair, invariably yield to the potent eflects of this '
Master Medicine, which isthe only one that cati bo’-

Neuralgic affections, and ail the various maladies
that are supposed to lie entrenched in the constitu

fluids that pervado the human system, where they 1
poison tho currents of life, sap the foundations of ex

Dear Sir—Wt have been selling, during the year
past, considerable quantities ofyourExt. Saraapsril ,
ia, and think from the account we hear of its vir
tues from those who have used it, that the sale in
this city may be much increased, by paying more at
tention to advertising. Ourorrangcnicntsaresucb witH
the different papers that we con have advertisements
inserted on much better terms than most others pay
and more conspicuously. If you would like to make
nn arrangement with Us for selling extensively, we
think 1; could be made with mucli sdvwtage to tis
both. We have now four different stores in town,
three of them in the best locations in the city for re-
tailing and one for wholesaling; nbcl our facilities
arc such as will enable us to dispose of more of it
than any other bouse. .
W* shall he much pleased to hear from you on
the subject, or if you visit N. Y. in the course ofs
week or two to see you at our storo, 79 Fulton st.
