leading characteristics. No pains have been spared
to mako it adequate to the purposes fur which it
wu commenced. The whole internal arrange
ments are conducted on the principles of a well-
regulated household, where all the pupils consti
tute a fkmily-circle, united in the great'work of
Home Education, under every advantage which
time and place can present.
Our undevlatlng aim baa been to establish a
School of such an order and .character, that those
haring * ona or daughters to educate, might feel en
tire confidence in submitting them to our manage
ment. assured that no effort would be wanting, to
accomplish for them, all that could bfi reasonably
anticipated.
The conrse’ofinatruction embraces all the ordi
nary, and the moat useful of tho higher F.ngllah'
branches, together with the Greek, Latin, French,
Italian, and Spanish languages, and Music.
The discipline la Impartially strict) yet aAh it la
believed, aa is calculated to secure the obedience
and respect or the pupils, and the approbation of
, udlcioua parents. Tne moral influence ofinstruc-
ion. persuasion, and encouragement is primarily
and nniply relied on, and ia seldom found ineffec
tual.
Habits of exactness and order in all the external
deportment ofthe pupils, aa well aa in their mental
operations, are carefiilly formed. Their manners
in the school-room and the street, their deportment
in the family and the company, in the presence of
their inferiors, their equals, and their superiors, re
ceive the strictest attention. Indeed, no efforts
are spared which are calculated to givo direction
and permanence to correct moral feeling, to incul
cate the love of truth and goodness, and - ■ rever
ence for the Scriptures aa the Word of God and tbe
rule oflife.
Guardians, entrusted with the care of orphan chil
dren, who are disposed to send them to this estab
lishment, may be assured, from those who bear the
most gratifying testimony, that they will not find
their confidence misplaced, nor their expectations
disappointed. They will find one here who will
be to them in the place of a mother, tender and af
fectionate, and whowilhdo lor them all thate fond
but judicious parent could reiaonably desire.
In short, the design of the School ia to make the
pupils contented, comfortable and happy, afethe
same time that they are studying to become wlae
and good. Parents nnd Guardians are assured that
theirchildren and wards shall be treated kindly and
affectionately, and shall be thoroughly inttructed.—
No more pupila are received than will enable each
one to receive a large share of separate, persona
attention.
Grateful (or the patronage of tho past, with an as
surance ihat we will do all that ia promised, we
hope the public*may consider it their interest to
continue to lend oa,as they have done and are now
doing, their warm and cordial support.
