of high respectability, and during Uio prevalence of tho
cholera In that city has watched the result or the appll-
cnUonorour Pain Killer for this disease, and his tesU-
mouy can be relied upon with ilio utmost confidence.
„ St. Louts, May 31, 1849.
i i* Harris, Esq j—Dear Sin You will recollect when
i uw you in New London, In January last my expressing
to you my most sanguine expectations uiat Davis' Pain
Killer would have a tremendous sale In Uie West this
season, and my anticipations have been more than real
ised. and the testimony of thousands who have used It
baa been that they would not be willing to go to bed at
night without it In tho home.
On the appearance of the cholera In this city, such was
the confidence In tho Pain Killer as a remedy, Uiat many
who purchased it remarked lo ino that they had no fears
or dread of tire cholera ns long as they had U:e Pnin Kil
ler by them, and hundreds took it daily as a proven
uve, for no person can have* derangement or the bowels,
or dlarrhma If they use Ulis medicine dally. This was
tho security and confidence of hundreds acquainted with
It, and when their Blends were attacked with the cholera
they would administer this remedy In laran quantities tn-
fornaMy, and also externally by bathing and rubbing them
with it. and In every case where it lias been taken tn
any of tho first stages of this disease It has proved
succesafol. I consider It an Infallible remedy. I have
not heard of an individual In any family who used the
Pain Killer when attacked but what speedily recovered.
Copt Broadwcll, ofthe steamer Atlantic, a New Or
leans packet, Informed me that on one of Ills trips up the
river to this city, lhatiliere were upwards orseventy cases
ofehoh ru on board, and the Pain Killer was used With
complete and triumphant success.
1 heclerk Informed me that hetulminlstered It to per-

relict) but still it should be given quickly, for when the
discharge or "rice water” him begun, the hope of life has
fled. Should tills disease make Its appeomnee among
you, as In all probability It will, be not alarmed, you and
all others there havo Uio remedy, and I am confident if the
rain Killer Is used not a dentil by cholera will occur In
your city.
I f the cholera comes among you, watch itsess, progr
and the remedy use, and mark Mg words, the family who
uses the l'tln Killer dally will have no diarrhea, ns dit
"rrangtmntof the bowels, and consequently no tkolcra.
mhose who are attacked will use the Pain Killer early
and thoroughly they will be saved. This has boon the
thffdresdfui diseased d * ,M l hl * cl l y ' durl r l thc . r0Ta « e * ° r
I hava not been able to supply nne-fourtli ofthe demand.
I have received orders fiom persons begging me to send
them some.
Now, for your own sake, for my rake, and for the rake
or suffering thousands, make some arrangements that your
agents can lie supplied. Increase your manufacture, do
•omelUng that a suffering world may lie relieved from
pain, for the time will come when not a family on tills
continent will Im willing to do without it a single day.
Respectfully yours, A.T. WOODWARD.
TIkwo using the Pain Killer should strictly observe the
following directions:
At the commencement ofthe disease take a teaspoon-
ful of Pain Killer in Sugnr nnd water, and then bathe free-
Iy across the stomach and bowels with tho Pain Killer
clear.
Should the dlarrhma or cramps continue, repent
dose every fifteen minutes. In this way the dreadfal
scourge inny be cheeked and the patient relieved In tho
courtoof a few hours.
N. R. Be sure and get the genuine article, ns them is
