PROOF!! PROOF!!!
Here Is proof conclusive that Dr. H. P. Townsend’s
Sarsaparilla is ilia original. The following Is from
sumo of tho most respectable papers In this State.
FROM THE
Albany KvciiIiik Journal.
Dr. Townsend’. Sarsaparilla.
Thare probably never has been so popular a remedy,
K rai medicine, as Dr. Townsends’* Bsrssparill*,
was originally, and continues to lie innnufuc.
tured in this city, at first hy the Doctor himself, and
afterwards for sovoral years and to foe present Umo,
by Clapp k Townsend, (ho present proprietor*. Since
the partnership was formed, the Doctor h*s resided in
New York, where he keops a store, and attends to the
business that accumulates at that jiolnt. The manu
factory is In tht. city, and is conducted hy the junior
iiartner, Mr. Clapp—here all Ihe medicine Is manufac-
lured.
Few of our citizens havo any idea of tho amount of
this medicine that is manufactured and sold. Besides
the sales In this country, it Is shipped to the Canadas,
West India Islands, South America, nnd even to Eu
rope, in considerable quantifies. At the manuftetory
they employ a steam engine, besides a Urge number
of men, women and girls, in the preparation of the
medicine, making boxes, printing, kc., and turn out,
ready for shipment, over 400 dozen per day, or nearly
6000 bottles. This is an enormous quantity.
Tho groat sale tho medicine has acquired, has in
duced n number of men to get up imitations, and there
ls at the present Umo, other medicine* for sate, that
aic called “ Dr. Townsend’s Sarsaparilla.” One In par
ticular slatted n shot I Ume ago in New York, is called
" Old Doctor Jacob Tow mend's Sarsaparilla,” and ap
parently wlfo a view, hy dint of advertising, ami tha
usual remedies resorted to in such efforts, to appropri
ate tho mime of Dr. 8. P. Townsend's great remedy,
and thus gain all foe advantages remlting from the
popularity of Ihe name which he Iras acquired for it,
by year* of patient and enpemhe labors. Dr. 8. P.
Tow mend, formerly of this oily, as is well known
hero, *i« Ihe inventor and original proprietor of thr
medicine known as "Dr Townsend’* Horsnparillo,'
ami we think those perilous who ate attempting to sell
tlielr article as the genuine, should be cxi’osed.
FROM THE
New York Unity Tribune.
0(7- Wo published nn advertisement uindverlenlly
some lime since that did injustice to Dr. 8. P. Town
send, who is the original proprietor of Ihe preparation
of H’irsapariUa known as lir. Townsend's. Other
parties hare within the past few month* engaged or
connected themselves with a nuin by tha name of
Townsend w ho put up a medicine nnd calls it by the
same name. Tins medicine was advertised in The
Tribune ns the original, kc. This advertisement nlso
contained matter derogatory to the character nf Dr.
8.1’. Towusend and that of Ills medicina. We regret
it appeared, and in Justice to the Dr. snako this ex
(dilution.
FROM THE
Near York Unity Hun,
Da. Towasr-itD’* extraordinary advertisement,which

prietor of Dr. Townsend's Haituparilla. and whoae of
fice is next door to outs, where he has been for sever
al yean, is driving an immense business. He receives
no less (halt four hundred dozen of BarsaparUla per
day, and even this enormous quanUty does not supply
the demand. No medicine ever gained so great a
popularity as his preparation of tho Sarsaparilla. His
edition or Almanac* for l»49 cost $22,000, and ha
has paid the New York Hux for advertising, in th*
‘ yean, over $10,000, nnd he acknowledges
