For sale by tho principal Druggists In this city and United
Stales. UDOLPHE WOLFE, Importor,
No. 22 Beaver-street, N. Y.
In our last number wo accompanied the
, . o publication
or n circular on this sutyccl, from our follow-clliton
Udolphe Wolfo, Esq, with a brief commentary, expres
uuotpne ivoue, tssq, wun a oriei commemary, expres
sive or our own views. Since then we have been era-
ploving this agent, and thus far with favorable results,
lint we nre In receipt dr several communications on tho
subject from medical men, which servo to show that Mr.
Wolfo's Aromatic Sclcdam Schnapps Is very extensively
ind in the hands of physicians. Is pn
In use, and In the hands of physicians. Is proving Itseff
as a stimulating diuretic to be eminently successful niter
other medication with this Intent had been tried In vain.
In one of Uie cases thus reported abdomlual dropsy lias
been cured, and the necessity or tapping averted; and In
another a distressing case of gravel, so called, has been
entirely removed by Uio passage of a calculus of con-
, slderable size, which Is ascribed to Uie use of only two
bottles of this article.
We know not the object of Mr. Wolfo In designating
his preparation by the singular unoupliodlous name of
M ScAnappe,” nor of his denominating It in his advertise
ments. the “concentrated Tincture of Juniper,” instead
of perpetuating Its ancient title of Holland Gin, It Is
true that he admits It to bo nothing else limn the latter
artldo In its pure state, unadulterated hy noxious drugs,
and honco ho contradistinguishes It from Gin or com
merce, nearly all of which, os Is well known, Is manu
factured hero and elsewhere from Inferior whiskey nud
refrise dRtgs. The name ho has given it, however, tuny
servo the purpose ol designating his article, ns prepared
exclusively for medical purposes, and thus commend It
to physicians for whose convenience it Is on solo only by
reputable druggists and apothecaries.
As respods its medicinal and curative effects, wo un
derstand him to claim only lhat it is a pure and reliable
article of Holland Gin, and ns such worthy of the confi
dence of physicians, In Uiose diseases for which they are
wont to prescribe it, and havehlthcrto only been restrain
ed, by finding It Impracticable to obtain the article in a
pure stale. Nor should any prejudice against alcoholic
medicine doprtva Uio ulllicltxl of the benelll of this arti
cle, which from time Immemorial has held Its place
amoug the remedial agencies or tho Materia Medico, If it
he found worthy of confidence by continued experience.
At nil events, thoso who persist In the employment and
toleration of other alcoholic medicines, as Uuclures, bit
ters, 4tCn and especially those who prescribe Gin under
nny circumstances, must all uulte In glvlugtho preference
to a pure article over tho manifold adulterations so rtfs
in tho market. Mr. Wolfe liberally supplies physicians
whh n sample bottle for analysts nnd trial, os set forth In
his clrculnr, nnd stake tho reputation of the remedy up
on thu innocence, safety, aud efficiency of his Holland
Gin, when used under medical advice; and pledges his
own character in business that the article will not disap
point any ono who use It.—Ifeto-Yvrk Medical Gazette.
