domes tie manures) and under the I rupeotlon of gentlemen
known as careful agriculturists, and who will taka suffi

With this explanation the undersigned refers to the an

who desire to make tho experiment should order early,
as the past seasou many were disappointed by delay, as
there were those whom ho could not supply.

G uano made a lasting manurb.-r win bo
remembered by all who have read the advertise
ments of tho undersigned, In tho Atnorican Farmer, and
elsewhere, that he frankly admitted tho superiority of
Peruvian Guano in tho rapid production of a Wheat crop,
although ho as llrraly contended, thnt his Sails wore far
more lasting, much bettor adapted to tho growth of clo
ver, with a decided advantage to the land, for a rotation
of crops. To this opinion ho still adheres, and It has been
confirmed by the most extensive experience.
The opinion which the undersigned entertained, that a
mixture or his Chemical Salta aud Pcrurlau Guano, would
make one ol the most prom pt, cheap, und what M of more
importance, lusting manures, known to the age, was
most favorably ontortalncd by the best practical and sci

and able chemists wo have. All who know Dr. Davie
Blewart, will ndtnlt that as an agricultural und scleutiflo
chemist, he Is second to no man In tho nation.
For the conclusive nnd Intelligent reasons upon which
those opinions are based, the undersigned confidently re
fers to the communication herewith published. Now the
undersigned can testily from his own experience, not
only to the liberality and enterprise with which tho ngrl-
iltural community seek tho best remedy to rouovnto

alone In this opinion; It Is firmly sustained by those who
are disinterested, and whose opinions are not only enti
tled to reapoct from every quarter, but should disarm Iho
most skeptical from any suspicion of quackery or hum
bug. The farmer cannot lose by buying this mixture. It
contains every element tho soil requires. There Is noth
ing absent—nothing deficient. Instead of exhausting tho
soil, it gives It permanent Improvement. The under
signed, therefore, trusts and earnestly requests that tho
dinner who buys five tons of guano, should try, aide by
side, fairly and without prqjudtco, ono or more tons of
this compound.

therefore, to the cost per ton, notas much os Patagonia,
nor much more than Mexlcau Guano, and 813 Ices than
Peruvian, whilst tho undersigned sacredly avers hla firm
belief, that for crop aud land, wheat, ami clover, it is
really worth 810 per ton more than oveuTho best Peru
vian Guano.
300 lbs. or the best Peruvian Guano would cost say,
80.00 per acre; 300 lbs. or tho Balts and Guano would
cost 83,04 cents per acre, nearly 83 less than Guano
alone; 400 lbs. to tho acre, would cost 80.73, or 20 cttjti

to present One Hundred Dollars each, to tho State Agri
cultural Societies ofMarylandaud Virginia, If any advo
cate or Patagonian, Mexican or African Gunno, trill do
tho same, upon the condition that tills compound will
yield a belter crop, and afferd inure Improvement to the
land than either of the Guanos specified. The under
signed means tho last preparation, costing 828,07 cts. per
ton; a d tho party losing, to pay the forfeit. Quantity,
soil, and cultivation to be tho samo, under or by the di
rection oftho Presidents of either oftho above societies.
If tho undersigned mlxos this compound, there will be
a charge or 82 per ton, which is the actual cost. In all
cases the very best Peruvian Guano will be used, nnd a
forfeiture or One Thousand Dollars paid, where tho quan
tity orguano directed. Is found deficient by competent
analysatlon. A certificate under oath, willolsobo fur
nished, whenever required, to each ordor. When the
Fartnor makes this mixture himself, groat care must be
taken to have ihemlxturocomploto—pulverUo It as fine
as possible, and then sieve It through the finest sieve.
The Guano becomes entirely Inodorous. After this Is
cnrcfullj done, It must not bo applied by being plough
ed down, as when Guano is used by Itself, but sown
broadcast when the land is In order, nnd harrowed in, In
be same quantity precisely that gunno alono Is used,
’articular attention must be paid to this, as the Ammon-
a In the Guano is aulphated, nnd therefore sinks Into the
soli, Instoad or escaping from It. No commission will
uncharged fer tho purchase of Guano, but Us coat must
be invariubly p Id In cash. It being a cash ortlclo. Great
care will be taken In buying Guano by analytical tests.
This manure will be put up In barrels or bags, and'as
before stated, tho mixture being Inodorous, they may bo
serviceable for other purposes. Now let all who have
faith enough to make the experiment, order as soon aa
possible, so that there may bo ample Ume for care, aud
no disappointment. Early qrdora are Important, becaute

An incomparably superior substitute for the Rag Wheel.
The peculiar principle from which the nbovo Mill do-
rives Its greatest merit. Is more especially ralunble In
Its application to the Gang Saw framo. Tho Engluo
stands Immediately underneath tho Sash, to which the
Piston Rod la directly attached. The motion of the 8oah
Is thus directly controlled by tho steam In tho cylinder,
and by Urn Introduction of this at a particular point, the
force or both tho up and downward stoko (usually fall
ing with such jarring effects on tho plumber blocks and
wrist pins,) Is entirely arrested, tho Sash being thus al
ways suspended as it were on the steam, relieving (here
by the Journals and wrist (so liable to heat In the usual
application), of all heating tendency. By vlrtuo of this
K ind pie, practical demonstration cau be furnished that
sw Mills are capablo of an easy speed of 200 revolu
tions per minute, and at this speed are noarly noiseless—
the out of the saws being almost alone heard. A com
mon spoed for tho single saw under this application Is
from 5150 to 300 revolutions por minute I Thesfyfs In
which these Engines and their appurtenances are gotten

embodies every practical aud well-tried Improvement
extant. The Engine and other work from this establish
ment Is not excelled In snypart oftbe United States.
