THURSDAY MORNING January 9, 1868
“ TA KE UP Til Y VllOss AKD
FOLLOW ME."
The way seems long, dear Leader, nud my feet
Arc weary, pressing olt these thorns —’twore
sweet, I-. ■
Mcthlnks to rest—this heavy cross remove;
Thou surely ncedest not thus my love to prove.
“Rest not, weak heart, nor lay thy burden
down;
For earth’s short rest, would’st lose thy heav
enly crown ?"
The way is dark, dear Leader; mists arise
That hide thy blessed presence from my eyes:
I stumble on this lonely mountain Wild,
O loving Tut her! spare me, sflare thy child.
“ Dost hear my voice ? then follow as I bade,
Thou rt safe, if firm on me thy trust is staid.”
But l am faint, dear Leader, and I sink,
“My steps are well-nigh gone”—upon the
brink
I helpless fall; put forth Thy mighty power,
And save me, loving Father, in this hour;
“ Driuk freely of the brook that floweth by,
Then lift thy head—thy Leader still is nigh.”
And must it thus, dear Leader, ever be ?
And may we here no resting-place e’er see;
Though faint and weary, light or dark the way,
Press forward e’er, to reach Heaven’s blessed
day ?
“Enough, that, as the Master, thou should’st
live;
Faithful to death,thou shalt the crown receive.”
Onward, dear Jesus! safely by Thee led,
“ Faint yet pursuing,” still the path I’ll tread;
Gird me with strength, then e’er my prayer
shall be;
“Father, e’en so, it scemetli good to Thee.”
“ And as thy days, thy strength shall ever be;
While Heaven’s eternal glory waiteth thee.”

Opinions of the Press.
‘‘.Musical Festivals” several times postponed,
compelling purchasers of tickets to wait mouths
for the distribution, lias iiiipaired public confidence
n such alliiirs. The only fair system of distribu
tion is the old and popular one of Sealed Tickets,
stating the prize, which will be delivered immedi
ately, on payment of the one dollar. That is the
plan of 14. BARTON & CO., at, .500 Broadway,
the most attractive place of the kind now in oper
ation. They are doing the largest business, and
deserve their success. Y'oti can not draw a
SIOO,OOO farm there, hut have a reasonable chance
for a good prize, as we know many that have been
drawn, and the firm is reliable. —Moraine Atlrcr
tiser, Oct. 257/i, 1867.
The New- York Gift Comnauy are distributing
many valuable prizes. We nave examined their
manner of doing business and know them to lie a
fair dealing firm. Their plan is more satisfactory
than “Presentation Festivals,” as they draw every
dav, and the subscriber need not pav for the prize
drawn, unless suited.— Gazette, Oct. 24 111, 1867.
The Gift establishment of 11. Barton & Cos., at
59!) Broadway, is daily attracting crowds of visi
tors to witness the drawing process. Tiic invest
ment is but,2.y cents for the chance, and the prize
drawn, if satisfactory, is immediately delivered
for one dollar. A friend of ours, last week, drew
a SSOO prize, which he promptly received.—Trans
cript, Sept. 2 9th, 1867.
