LARGEST CITY CIRCULATION
Official Organ of the U. S Government.
ran, ay morning--;
Things that Last. — Let us now
look at some of those things that “Will
never wear out.”
I have ofter hoard a poor blind girl
sweetly sing, “Kind words will never
die.” Ah! we believe that these aro
among the things that “ will never
wear out.” Ami wo are told in God’s
own book to be “ kind to one another,
tender-hearted, forgiving one another.”
The word of the Lord will never
wear out. Though the grass shall
wither, and the flowers fall away, the
word of the Lord endureth for ever.
1 Peter i. 24, 25.
The life of the righteous will never
wear out. They will live in the world
to come as long as God shall live; but
the death of the wicked will last for
ever.
The joys of the kingdom of Heaven
will never wear out. The pleasures of
this world soon die; but the enjoy
ments of that world will never have
an end.
The crown of glory will never wear
out. The crown of the winner in tho
Olympic games soon faded; the crowns
of kings will all wear out; but tho
crown of glory will never fade away.
The “new song” will never wear out.
We hear sometimes that some of our
tunes are worn threadbare; but that
will never be said of the new song.
Which will you choose? The last
ing, or that which wastes away ? the
things of time, or of eternity? Will
you choose wealth, honor, fame, or the
joys of Heaven, eternal life, the crown
of glory, and the “ new song ” ? May
God enable us to make a wise choice;
and, with Joshua, may we choose to
serve the Lord.

. Opinions of the Press.
'Musical Festivals’' several times postponed,
ompelling purchasers of tickets to wait months
cor the distribution, has impaired public confidence
fn such affairs. The only fair system of distribu
tion is the old and popular one of Sealed Tickets,
stating the prize, which will be delivered immedi
ately, on payment of the one dollar. That is the
plan of H. UAIiTON & CO., at 599 Broadway,
the most attractive place of the kind now in oper
ation. They are dining the largest business, and
deserve their success. You can not draw a
(100,000 farm there, but have a reasonable chauce
for a good prize, as we know many that have been
drawn, and the firm is reliable.— Morning Adver
liter, Oct. 251 h, 18(57.
The New York Gift Company are distributing
many valuable prizes. We'nave examined their
manner of doing business and know them to be a
fair dealing firm. Their plan is more satisfactory
than "Presentation Festivals,” as they draw every
day, and the subscriber need not pav for the prize
drawn, unless suited.— Gazelle, Oct. ‘24th, 1867.
r The Gift establishment of H. Barton & Cos., at
999 Broadway, is daily attracting crowds of visi
tors to witness the drawing process. Tiie invest
ment is but 25 cents for the chauce, and the prize
drawn, if satisfactory, is immediately delivered
for one dollar. A friend of ours, last week, drew
a (500 prize, which lie promptly received.—Trans
cript, Sept. 29(4,1867.
