BETSY JANE! MY BETSY JANE!
A DOMK3TIC MELODY.
WORDS BY A. WARD. tgq.
Alß —"Jtj Maryland."
Arlcmus, on bis return from n business trip,
Sad* reason to suspect the conjugal fidelity ol
his spouse, Betsy Jane, and addresses her in the
following » train —
What made that grease-spot on your floor,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane!
I never saw it there before,
Betsy Jane!
Some other man has passed this door,
While I’ve been gone to Baltimore,
I'll find out wholt is, I’ve swore,
Betsy Jane ! My Betsy Jane !
Hark ! ’tis thy wandering spouse’s appeals,
Betsy Jane ! My Betsy Jane !
You're been frying sassingers, or heels,
Betsy Jane!
Cow-heels, I mean—that butcher deals
In both I know, and of these wicked meals
This grease-spot the rile truth reveals,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane!
Yon need not pout your lips and scold,
Betsy Jane 1 My Betsy Jane !
That grease-spot all the tale has told,
Betsy Jane 1
Whether your feasts wore hot or cold,
It proves I’ve been confounded sold,
And that, too, by that butcher bold,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane !
While I’ve been getting bread for you,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane !
By travelling with my moral show,
Betsy Jane 1
My learned snaiz and monkeys too,
And that infernal kangaroo ;
That grease-spot proves you’ve been untrue,
Betsy Jane ! My Betsy Jane !
Dear Betsy burst thy tyrant’s chain
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane!
Artemus should not call in vain,
Betsy Jane !
If you’ve got butcher on the brain,
From sassingers and tripe refrain,
Taters and onions eat again,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane !
I see the blush upon thy cheek,
Betsy Jane! My Betsy Jane!
And tears arc running down thy beak,
Betsy Jane!
I believe she’s going to faint and shriek
Oh ! I’ll forgive you for that freak !
Come take a glass of toady, weak,
Betsy Jane ! My Betsy Jane!
You like your liquor straigat ? then come,
Betsy Jane ! My Betsy Jane !
And let us take a drop of rum,
Betsy Jane!
llum ! she is no longer dumb,
Huzza! she spurns that butcher scum !
Come to my arms ! she'll como ! she’ll como !
Oh—h Betsy Jane ! My—y Betsy Jane—

Opinions of the Press.
“Musical Festivals'' several times postponed,
compelling purchasers of tickets to wait months
for the distribution, has impaired public confidence
n such afTaira. The only fair system of distribu
tion is the old and popular one of Sealed Tickets,
stating the prize, which will be delivered immedi
ately, on payment of the one dollar. That is the
plan of 11. BARTON & CO., at 599 Broadway,
the most attractive place of the kind now ill oper
ation. They are doing the largest business, and
deserve their success. Yon can not draw a
SIOO ,000 farm there, but have a reasonable chance
for a good prize, as we know inanv that have been
drawn, and the firm is reliable. —Morning Adver
tiser, Oct. 25 th, 1867,
The New York Gift Company are distributing
many valuable prizes. We lmve examined their
manner of doing business and know them to be a
fair dealing firm. Their plan is more satisfactory
than “Presentation Festivals,” as they draw every
day, and the subscriber need not pay for the prize
drawn, unless suited.— Gazelle, Oct. 24M, 1867.
The Gift establishment of 11. Barton <fc Cos., at
599 Broadway, is daily attracting crowds of visi
tors to witness the drawing process. The invest
ment is but 25 cents for the chance, and the prize
drawn, if satisfactory, is immediately delivered
for one dollar. A friend of onrs, last week, drew
a SSOO prize, which he promptly received.—Trans
cript, Scpt.VMh, 1807.
Liberal inducements to Agents. Satisfaction
guaranteed.
Every package of Sealed Envelopes contains
one Cash Gift.
