FRIDAY MORNING March V. 1»«»
NOTHING TO DO.'
The moral of the following is intended
for the instruction of boys older than the
child of the rhymer’s imagination :
“I have shot my arrows, and spun my top#
And bandied my last new ball;
I trundled my hoop till I had to stop,
And I swung till I got a fall;
I tumbled my books all out of the shelves,
And hunted the pictures through.
I’ve flung them whero they may sort themselves,
And now—l have nothing to do.
“The tower of Babel I built of blocks,
Came down with a crash to the floor;
My train of cars ran over the rocks,
I'll warrant thev’ll run no more;
I have raced with Grip till|l am out of breath,
My slato is broken in two,
So I can’t draw monkeys; I am tired to death,
Because I have nothing to do.
"The beys have gone to tho pond to fish,
They bothered me, too, to go;
But for fun like that I hadn’t a wish,
For I think it’s mighty "slow”
To sit all day at the end of a rod,
For the sake of a minnow or two,
Or to land, at the farthest, an eel on tho sod—
I’d rather have nothing to do !
“Maria has gone to tho woods for flowers—
And Lucy and Nell are away
After berries—l’m sure they've bin out for
hours,
I wonder what makes them stay ;
Ned wanted to saddle Brunette for me,
But riding is nothing new ;
‘I was thinking you’d relish a canter,’ said he,
‘Because you had nothing to do.’
“I wish I was poor Jim Foster’s son,
For ho seems so happy and gay,
When his wood is chopped and his work all
done,
With his little half hour of play ;
He neither has books, nor tops, nor ball, #
Yet he is singing the whole day through ;
But then—ho never is tired at all
Because ho has nothing to do.” .

Healing the Sick
*T IB*
LAYING ON OF HANDS,
OB
ANIMAL MAGNETISMI
PROFESSOR ROBERTS, LATE OF NEW
Orleans and Memphis, the great Magnetic
Healer, will treat all manner of Diseases and
Afflictions, not incurable, at the AUGUSTA
HOTEL, Augußta, Ga., until May Ist, 1868.
By Animal Magnetism we claim that the dis
eased and deranged action of the nervous and
vacnlar svstems are restored to a perfect equilib
rium much more readily than by any other means
known to the medical world, either in the present
or the past ages. ‘ Nature must do the healing,’’
is the saying of every sensible and honest physi
cian, and that “all we can do in case of siokness
is to aid Nature.” This Prof. Roberts aims to do
by the great science of Animal Magnetism, and
that, too, without drugs! It is the only system of
the medication that has God as its authority and
example, or that can be sustained by science or
common sense.
Consultation free. Letters to be answered most
be accompanied with a Btamp. For testimonials
see or send for circular.
Prof. Roberta treats successfully the following
named diseases, together with mauy other forms
of lmman maladies not herein specified, viz:
All diseases of the Brain, Rheumatism, Nervous
Debility, Neuralgia, Weak Spine, Curvature of
the Spine, Inflamed Sore Eyes, Paralysis, Weak
Eyes, Partial Blindness, Dropsical Tamors,Ulcers,
Scrofula iu its varied forms, Consumption, Dia
betes, Weakness of the Limbs, Bronchitis, Loss of
Voice, Palpitation of the Heart, Diseases of the
Liver, Kidneys, and Bowels, Dyspepsia, Falling
of the Womb, Suppressed Meuses, Catarrh, all
kinds of Sexual Diseases, Impurities of the Blood,
etc., etc. Paralysis and Deafness are the most
uncertain of all diseases to cure, although patients
afflicted even with these terrible maladies will be
more or less benefitted, if not cured, by Magnetic
Treatment.
GREAT TRIUMPH OF ANIMAL MAGNET

AND THE ENEMIES OF TRUTH GET A
“REGULAR” NORTHWESTER.
Augusta, Ga., March 12,1868.
I hereby certify that I have been partially pßra
lyzed for tonr years. Four mouths of that time I
was not able to make a step, or even so much us
move one of my toes on either foot, and was en
tirely destitute of feeliug in my legs.
I was examined by forty eight Confederate
Army Snrgeous, all pronouncing me incurable—
having Curvature of the Spine, which produced
paralysis. I commenced taking treatment of Pro
fessor Roberts, March 4th, 1868, and now, after
taking nine treatments, by Animal Magnetism , I
feel like a “new ci-eature!” I can now stand up,
and walk any desired distance, without crutches
or canes , which was utterly impossible for more
Ikon four years before seeing Dr. Roberts.
For reputation and responsibility, I refer those
interested to Mr. W. A. Ramsey. Mr. Edwurd
Rodfjers, Mr. John M. Clark, Mr. Nicholas Young
blood, and Mr. John Houston, all of Augusta, Ga.
Mv address is Edgefield Courthouse. S. C.
[Signed) A. SIIARPTON.Jr.
Professor Roberts will heal the sick at Augusta
Hotel, until May Ist, 1868.
Augusta, Ga., Feb. 29tli, 1868.
This is to certify that I have been treated by
Prof. Roberts for a dropsical tumor iu the left side,
with which I have been afflicted for the lust seven
years, and am confident that I am entirely cured,
not having experienced any of the unpleasant
symptoms which I did before the treatment, and
this by animal magnetism.
MARTHA A. GORDON.
I am cognizant of all the facts contained in the
above statement, the lady having been a member
of my family for a number of years.

March 6th, 1868. )
This certifies that I have been a great sufferer
with Rheumatism for five years, my left ankle
being maoh swollen, very stiff ana painful. I
was treated twice only by Dr. Roberts, at the
Augusta Hotel, February 18th and 20th, 1868, and
now have not one symptom of Rheumatism or
pain in my body. All the medicine I had taken
seemed to make me worse, and I never had
any relief mitil I was treated magnetically. People
may laugh ; bnt I have no more rheumatic
paiiis—that's so.
I work in the Augusta Hotel.
[Signed| NANCY MASON.
Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 12,1868.
I have been a hopeless invalid for the weary
space of ten or twelve years, laboring under a
combination of dreadful diseases which have long
since been pronounced incurab, e. I had of late
grown rapidly vforse, until three days since I ras
brought to tins city on a bed, being entirely unaole
to sit np, for the purpose of consulting the far
famed Prof. Roberts. After the first treatment,
which was only a few minutes, I was free of all
pain aud able to walk anywhere, and to-day I feel
so well and strong I can scarcely realize that I
am the same being who was so feeble and suffer
ing so much three days since. I can never express
my heartfelt gratitude to the man whose wonder
ful skill has thus relieved me of so much inexpres
sible suffering. May God bless the Doctor
wherever he goes, is my humble prayer.
[Signed] Mas. J. H. NASH,
Lovejoy's Station, Georgia.
Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 5,1868.
To whom it may concern : This will certify that,
for eight months past I have been afflicted
with Neuralgia in trie right side of the face, and
most of the time suffered most excruciating pain,
during which time I have sought relief in vain
from the regular medical profession ; and I further
certity that I was relieved the lirst time I was
treated by Prof. Roberts, and apparently pernia
nently cured after being treated the third time. I
most confidently recommend him to all similarly
afflicted. J. B. LANIER.
Atlanta, Ga., March 7th, 1868.
Dr. It. R. Roberts :—This is to certify that I
have, for five years paßt, been afflicted with
goitre. Physicians pronounced it insurable, and
from them I obtained no relief, but upon the con
trary continued to grow worse, until treated by
you four times, by Animal Magnetism, in January
and February, 1868, since which time it Ims almost
disappeared, and I am entirely relieved from suf
fering with it.
I am very kindly, yonrs, forever,
, g»e<U J. P. PUGH.
Witness to the above :
Col. R. J. COWART.
Atlanta, Ga., March 3d, 1868.
This certifies tiiat I have suffered exceedingly
with a large tumor on the left side of my face for
twenty-five years. During this age of torture it
has been removed twice by painful surgical opera
tions, which only seemed to aggravate its growth.
When Dr. Roberts came to Atlanta I took treat
ment by Animal Magnetism , and have been
greatly benelittcd by him—in point of truth, more
than by the entire twenty seven “regular” doctors
who have attended me.
Under the treatment, the tumor softened and re
duced in size, the hearing in my left ear lias b'jen
restored, and my left arm, which was almost, use
less, has been restored to its original strength. I
can now sleep on my left side—a thing I could not
do for many years before. I firmly believe if I
could contiuue the treatment the tumor would
entirely disappear. Mas. J. G. McLIN.
