National Republican " lah<st riff cumulation Offioial Organ of the U. 8. Government. SATURDAY MORNING Mareh 28. 1668 THE MISTER'S TOIL. • Ulow, ye rtormy winde of winter, Drive the chilly, drifting snow, Closely housed, the busy printer Heed* not how tho winds may blow. Click, click, his typo go dropping. Here and thero upon his case, • As ho stands for hours popping Every letter in its place. Hoar on send the useful printer Every comfort mortals need, For our nights wero dull in winter Had we not tho news to read. Fad would bo tho world’s condition, If no printer boys wore found ; Ignorance and superstition, Sin and suffering would abound. Yea, it is tho busy printer Rolls the car of knowledge on, And a gloomy, mental winter Soon would reign if he woro gone. Money’s useful, yet the winters Fill not half so high a place As the busy, toiling printers, Fingering typo before tho case. Yet, while the typo they’re busy sotting, Oft some thankless popinjay Leaves the country, kindly letting Printers whistle for thcityiay. Oh ! ingratitude ungracious^ Are there on enlightenod soil— Men with minds so incapacious As to slight the printer’s toil ? Seo him ! how extremely busy, Fingering type before the case, Toiling, till he’s almost dizzy, To exalt the human race. OFFICIAL Laws of Congress. Astonishing Results IN AUGUSTA AND ATLANTA, GA Mystsries of Past Ages Revived! 4< Truth U miyhty and mutt prevail** Healing tlie Sick by Tns I.AYINC ON OF HANDS, OR ANIMAL MAGNETISM! TYKOFESSOR ROBERTS, LATE OF NEW JL Orleans and Memphis, the great Magnetic Healer, will treat all manner of Diseases and Afflictions, not incurable, at the AUGUSTA HOTEL, Augusta, Ga., until May Ist, 1868. By Animal Magnetism we claim that the dis eased and deranged action of the nervous and vacular svstems are restored to a perfect equilib rium much more readily than by any other means known to the medical world, either in the present or the past ages. ‘ Nature must do the healing,“ is the saying of every sensible and honest physi cian, and that “all we can do in caso of sickness is to aid Nature.” This Prof. Roberts aims to do by the great science of Animal Magnetism, aud that, too, without drugs! It is the only system of the medication that has God as its authority and example, or that can be sustained by science or common sense. Consultation free. Letters to be answered must bo accompanied with a stamp. For testimonials see or send lor circular. Prof. Roberts treats successfully the following named diseases, together with many other forms of human maladies not herein specified, viz: All diseases of the Brain, Rheumatism, Nervous Debility, Neuralgia, Weak Spine, Curvature of the Spine, Inflamed Sore Eyes, Paralysis, Weak Eyes, Partial Blindness, Dropsical Tumors,Ulcers, Scrofula in its varied forms, Consumption, Dia betes, Weakness of the Limbs, Bronchitis, Loss of Voice, Palpitation of the Heart, Diseases of the Liver, Kidneys, and Bowels, Dyspepsia, Falling of tho Womb, Suppressed Menses, Catarrh, all kinds of Sexual Diseases, Impurities of the Blood, etc., etc. Paralysis and Deafness are the most uncertain of all ‘diseases to cure, although patients afflicted even with these terrible maladies will be more or less benefitted, if not enred, by Magnetic Treatment. GREAT TRIUMPH OF ANIMAL MAGNET ISM IN AUGUSTA!-" OLD FOGYISM” AND TIIE ENEMIES OF TRUTH GET A “REGULAR” NORTHWESTER.’ August*, Ga., March 12,1868. I hereby certify that I have been partially para lyzed for four years. Four months of that lime I was not able to make a step, or cveu so much as move one of my toes on either foot, and was en tirely destitute ot feeling in ray legs. I was examined by forty eight Confederate Army Surgeons, all pronouncing me incurable— having Curvature of the Spine, which produced paralysis. I commenced taking treatment of Pro fessor Roberts, March 4th, 1868, and now, after taking nine treatments, by Animal Magnetism , I feel like a “new creature!” I can now stand, up. and walk any desired distance, without crutches or canes, which was utterly impossible /or more than four years before seeing Dr. Roberts. For reputation and responsibility. I refer those interested to Mr. VV. A. Ramsey, Mr. Edward Rodgers, Mr. John M. Clark. Mr. Nicholas Young blood. and Mr. John Houston, nil of Augusta, Ga. My address is Edgefield Courthouse. S. C. ‘ [Signed] A. SHARPTON.Jr. Professor Roberts will heal tho sick at Augusta Hotel, until May Ist, 1868. Augusta, Ga., Feb. 2!)tl>, 1868. This is to certify that I have been treated by Prof. Roberts for a dropsical tumor in the left side, with which I have been afflicted for the last seven vears, and am confident that I am entirely cured, hot having experienced any of the unpleasant symptoms whi'-\ l did before the treatment, and this by animal magnetism. MARTHA A. GORDON. I am cognizant ot all the facts contained in the above statement, the lady having been a member of my family for a number of vears. ANDREW (}. LaTASTE. Augusta Hotel, Augusta, Ga. ) March 6th, 1868. j This certifies that I have been a great sufferer with Rheumatism for five years, my left ankle being much swollen, very stiff and painful. I was treated twice only bv Dr. Roberts, at the Augusta Hotel, February IStli and 20th, 1868, aud now have not one symptom of Rheumatism or pain in my body. All the medicine I hud taken seemed to make me worse, and I never had any relief until I was treated magnetically. J’eople may laugh; but I have no more rheumatic paiiis—that’s so. I work in the Augusta Hotel. [Signed | NANCY MASON. Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 12,1868. 1 have been a hopeless invalid for the weary space of ten or twelve years laboring under a combination of dreadful diseases which have long since been pronounced incurab.». I bad of lato grown rapidly worse, until three days since I was brought to this city on a bed, being entirely nuable to sit up, for the purpose of consulting the far famed Prof. Roberts. After the first treatment, which was only a few minutes, I wa3 free of all pain and able to walk anywhere, and to-day I feel so well and strong I can scarcely realize that I am the same being who was so feeble aud Buffer ing so much three days since. I can never express my heartfelt gratitude to the man whose wonder ful skill has thus relieved me of so much inexpres sible suffering. May God bless the Doctor wherevei he goes, is my humble prayer. [Signed] Mrs. J. 11. NASH, Lovejoy’s Station, Georgia. Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 5,1868. To whom it may concern : This will certify that, for eight months past I have been afflicted with Neuralgia in the light side of the face, and most of the time suffered most excruciating pain, during which time I have "sought relief in vain from the regular medical profession ; aud I further certity that I was relieved the first time I was treated by Prof. Roberts, aud apparently pernia neatly cured after being treated the third time. I most confidently recommend him to all similarly afflicted. J. B. LANIER. Atlanta, Ga., March 7th, 1868. Dr. It. 11. Roberts: —This is to certify that I have, for live years past, been afflicted with goitre. Physicians pronounced it incurable, and from them I obtained no relief, but upon the con trary continued to grow worse, until treated by you four times, by Animal Magnetism, in January and February, 1868, since which time it has almost disappeared, and I am entirely relieved from suf fering with it. I am very kindly, yours, forever, Signed] J. p, PUGH. Witness to the above; C’OL. R. J. COWART. Atlanta, Ga., March 3d, 1868. This certifies that I have suffered exceedingly with a large tumor on the left side of my face lor twenty-live years. During this age of torture it has beeu removed twice by painful surgical opera tions, which only sensed to aggravate its growth. When Dr. Roberts came to Atlanta I took treat ment bv Animal Magnetism, and have been greatly benefitted by him—in point of truth, more than by the entire twenty seven “regular” doctors who have attended me. Under the treatment, the tumor softened and re duced in size, the hearing in my left ear has beeu restored, and my left arm, which was almost use less, lias been restored to its original strength. I can now sleep oil my left side—a thing I could not do for many years before. I firmly believe if I could continue the treatment the tumor would entirely disappear. Mrs. J. G. McLIN.
