"National tlcjmblicnn LARUKST (ITY CIRCILATION " Official Organ of the U. S Government. SATURDAY MORNING -....April 11. IMS From th» Atlantic Monthly for April. A PR I L. BY KISS 11. R. HUDSON'. April has Marched the winter laml, And found her petted flowers again; She kissed them to unfold their leases — She coaxed them with sun and rain, And filled the grass with green content, And made the weeds and elorer vain. Her fairies climb the naked trees, And set green caps on every stalk ; ller primroses peep bashfully From borders of the garden walk ; And in the reddening maple tops ller blackbird gossips sit and talk. She greets the patient evergreens. She gets a store of ancieut gold, Gives tasselled presents to the breezo, And teaches rivers songs of old— Then shake the trees with stolen March winds, And laughs to hear the cuckoo scold. Sometimes to fret the sober sun, She pulls the clouds across his face; But finds a snow drift in the woods, Grows meek again and prays his grace; Waits till the last whito wreath is gone, And drops arbutus in the place. ller crocuses and violets Give all the world a gay “Good year !” Tall irises grow tired of green, And get themselves a purple gear ; And tiny buds that Ho asleep On hill and field her summons hear. She rocks the saucy meadow cups ; The sunset’s heart anew she dies ; She fills the dusk of deepest woods With vague, sweet sunshine and surprise, And wakes the perawinkles up To watch her with their wide, blue eyes. At last she deems her work is done. And finds a willow rocking chair, Dons spectacles of apple buds, Kerchief and cap of almonds rare, And sits a very grandmother, Shifting her runshinenecdlcs there. And when sho sees the deeper sun That ushers in the happy May, She sighs to think her time is past, And weeps because she can not stay, And leaves her tears upon the grass, And turns her face, and glides away. I PROFESSOR ROBERTS, LATE OF NEW Orleans and Memphis, the great Magnetic Healer, will treat all manner of Diseases and Afflictions, not incurable, at the AUGUSTA IIOTEI,, Augusta, Ga., until May let, 1868. Ily Animal Magnetism we claim that tile dis eased and deranged action of the nervous and vacular systems are restoied to a perfect equilib rium much more readily than by any other means known to the medical world, either in the present or the past ages. ‘ Nature must do the healing," is the saying of every sensible and honest physi cian, ana that “all we can do in case of sickness is to aid Nature.” This Prof. Roberts aims to do by the great science of Animal Magnetism, and that, too, without drags! It is the only system of the medication that has God as its authority and example, or that can he sustained by science or common sense. Consultation free. Letters to be answered must be accompanied with a stamp. For testimonials see or send for circular. GREAT TRIUMPH OF ANIMAL MAGNET ISM IN AUGUSTA!—“OLD FOGYISM” AND TIIE ENEMIES OF TRUTH GET A “ REGULAR 71 NORTHWESTER. Augusts, Ga., March 12,1868. I hereby certify that I have been partially para lyzed for four years. Font-months of that time I was not able to make a step, or even so much as move one of my toes on either foot, and was eu tirely destitute of feeling in my legs. I was examined by forty eight Confederate Army Surgeons, all pronouncing me incurable— having Curvature of the Spine, which produced paralysis. I commenced taking treatment of Pro fessor Roberts, Marcli 4th, 1868, and now, after taking nine treatments, by Animal Magnetism. X feel like a “new creature!’’ I can now stand up, and walk any desired distance, without crutches or cancs, which was utterly impossible for more than four years before seeing Dr. Roberts. For reputation and responsibility. I refer those interested to Mr. W. A. Ramsey. Mr. Edward Rodgers, Mr. JohnM. Clark. Mr. Nicholas Young blood, and Mr. John Houston, ali of Augusta, Ga. My address is Edgefield Courthouse. S. C. [Signed! A. SHARPTON, Jn. Professor Roberts will heal the sick at Augusta Hotel, until May Ist, 18(38. Augusta, Ga., Feb. 29th. 1868. This is to certify that I have been treated by Prof. Roberts for a dropsical tumor in the left side, with which I have been afflicted for the last seven years, and am confident that 1 am entirely cured, not having experienced any of the unpleasant symptoms which I did before the treatment, and this by animal magnetism. MARTHA A. GORDON. I am cognizant of all the facts contained in the above statement, tiie lady having been a member of my family for a number of veins. ANDREW <}. LaTASTE. Augusta Hotel, Augusta, Ga. ) March 6th, 1868. f This certifies that I have been a great sufferer with Rheumatism for five years, my left ankle being much swollen, very still' and painful. I was treated twice only bv Dr. Roberts, at the Augusta Hotel, February 18th and 20th, 186S, and now have not one symptom of Rheumatism or pain in my body. All the medicine I had taken seemed to make me worse, and I never had any relief until I was treated magnetically. People may laugh ; but I have no more rheumatic pains -that's so. I work in the Augusta Hotel. [Signed| NANCY MASON. Atlanta, G a., Feb. 12,1808. I have been a hopeless invalid for the weary space of ten or twelve years, laboring under a combination of dreadful diseases which have long since been pronounced inenrab.e. I had of late grown rapidly worse, until three days since I was brought to this city on a bed, bring entirely unable to sit np, for the purpose of consulting'the far famed Prof. Roberts. After the first treatment, which was only a few minutes, I was free of all pain aud able to walk anywhere, and to-day I feel so well and strong I can scarcely realize that I am the same being who was so feeble and suffer ing so much three days since. I can never express my heartfelt gratitude to the man whose wonder ful skill has thus relieved me of so much inexpres sible suffering. May God bless the Doctor wherevci he goes, is thy humble prayer. [Signed] ' Mrs. J. H. NASH, Lovejoy’s Station, Georgia. Augusta, Ga., March 30, IS6S. In June, 1807, I was residing in Memphis, Tcnu. I have been suffering from Piles for twenty-eight years, tho last eight of which I had been almost unfitted for business of any kind, and had no hope of a cure. A nephew of mine had suffered fifteen years with the same complaint; he.went to Philadelphia, was four months under Dr. I’ancost; submitted to an operation with the knife, and was finally cured, fur which he paid ono thousand dollars, besides his expenses to and from Philadelphia. I called on Professor Roberts and received three treatments, by Animal Mag ncticism, at his hands, and was entirely cured, and am well; yet, for which I paid twenty dol lars. I would not to-day ho placed again in the condition you found me ton months ago, and with as little hope of a cure as I had before your three treatments, for twenty thousand dollars. Very truly yoars, J. L. Grace, 336 Broad St, Augusta, Ga. Atlanta, Ga., March 3d, 1868. Tina certifies that I have suffered exceedingly with a large tumor on the left side of my face tor twenty live years. During this age of torture it has been removed twice by painful surgical opera tione, which only seemed to aggravate its growth. hen Dr. Roberts came to Atlanta I took treat ment by Animal Magnetism , and have been greatly benebtted bv him—in point of truth, more than by the entire twenty seven “regular" doctors who have attended me. Under the treatment, the tumor softened and re duced m size, the hearing in my left ear has been restored, ami my left arm, which was almost use less, has been restored to its original strength. 1 can now sleep on jny left side—a thing I could not do for many years before. I firmly believe if I could continue the treatment the tumor would entirely disappear. ,Mus. J. G. McLIN. Atlanta, Ga., March 6th, 1868. Dr, It. A’. Sec Directions accompanying each bottle. It has been tried in every variety of climate, and by almost every nation known to Ameri cans. It is the almost constant companion and inestimable f tend of the missionary and the traveller, on land and sea, and no one should travel on our lakes or rivers without it. Prices, 25 cents, 50 cents, and 81 per bottle. Perry Davis’ Pain Killer. —We have often spoken of this great medicine in terms of very high praise, and we have as often felt that all we could say in its favor would not do it full justice. It is one of those medicines of which we can speak—and speak decisively—from experience ; for wo have repeatedly taken it, and invariably with the best results and greatest satisfaction. We always keep it on hand, ready for an emer gency, and wo regard it not only as one of the very best medicines in use for various ills, but as one of the cheapest, also. Its cost, by the way-—that is, the cost ot the ingredients of which it is composed—lias been considerably increased, hut the price of the medicine has been but very little advanced. It is not likely that the popu larity of Davis’ Pain Killer will in any measure decrease, or that the demand for it will in tho slightest degree decline, until some other specific for allaying pain and curing various complaints for which it is so generally used, shall bo dis covered, of equal potency with it—of which there seems to be but little probability. Asa remedy for stomach complaints, such as dysen tery, diarrhoea, etc., the Pain Killer is, without doubt, unsurpassed, aud every where most de servedly in demand. One, two, or three doses, of a teaspoonful each, in a wine glass of milk and water, with a little sugar, have repeatedly, within our knowledge, effectually cured serious trouble of this kind. Judgment should undoubt edly be used in checking certain stages of diar rhoea too suddenly; hut taken at the proper time, the Pain Killer will act like a charm, and frequently cure when nothing else will.—Provi dence Advertiser.
