The following paraphrase of the Lord's prayer lias been set to music in Kiighim]. It is the best we have seen in any language there i« nothing wanting and nothing redundant : Our heavenly Father, hear our prayer, Thv name bo hallowed everywhere, Thy kingdom come, Thy perfect will In earth, as in heaven, let all fulfill ; (live this day’s bread that wo may live ; Forgive our sins as wo forgive, Help ns temptation to withstand; From evil shield us by Thy hand, Now and forever unto Thee, The kingdom, power, and glory be. Amen. REPUBLICAN NATIONAL NOMI NATING CONVENTION. The undersigned, constituting the National Committee designated bv the Convention held at Baltimore on the 7th of June, 18G4, do appoint that a National Convention of the Union Republican party be held at the city of Chicago, 111-, on Wednesday, the 20th day of May next, at 12 o’clock in., for the purpose of nominating candidates for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States. Each State in the United States is authorized to be represented in said Convention by the number of delegates equal to twice the number of Senators and Repre sentatives to which each State is entitled in the National^Congress. We invite the cooperation of all citizens who rejoice that our great civil war has happily terminated in the discomfiture of the rebellion ; who would hold fast the unity and integrity of the Republic, and maintain its paramount right to defend to the utmost its own existence, whether im periled by secret conspiracy or armed force; of all friends of an economical ad ministration of the public expenditure, of the complete extirpation of the principles and policy of slavery, and of the speedy reorganization of those States whoso Gov ernments were destroyed by tbo Rebellion, and their permanent restoration to their proper practical relations with tho United States in accordance with the true princi ples of republican government.
