Yesterday, at the Sand Hills, a Pic Nic of
the school over which these accomplished
ladies' are the Principals, held a recherche
Pic .Vic, and had a delightful and joyous
time. All wore highly pleased, and the day
passed off with great satisfaction to all par
ties. .

The initiatory Barbecue and grand turn
out at the above named pleasant resort at the
Sand Hills, on yesterday, passed off with
oreat (dot, and we hope will prove a splendid
success, livery attention was paid to the
guests, and satisfaction given to all who
called. The City Railroad Cars run to the
spot, and as the heated term has com
menced. ice cream, lemonade and other
cooling draughts can be had, of any and all
kinds, with other substantial comforts. Ride
up, and help yourselves.
Printer*" Pic Nic.
Pic nies are the resorts of all classes nt
this particular time of the year, and it has
suggested itself to our mind that the
Printers of -Augusta should not fail to re
peat that happy occasion inaugurated on
the last 4th of July. Not hearing anything
mentioned concerning this class of useful
arthans, these reflections are given. The
opportunity to bring together the families
and friends of each other in social commu
nion on a festival day is truly pleasing ;
and after toiling incessantly for six months
at a time, to observe one of their holidays
in the manner of a Pic Nic should be
heartily endorsed.

same section, at that time.
George Rappold & Bro., for violation of
the 36th section, plead guilty, and were fined

Errmn.
Mr. Km rot;—in your issue of the Ist
instant, 1 published a local advertisement
lieaded “Humbug, that Mr. iu. S. Bleakley
applies in part to himself (the word “Agen
cy). The idea I intended to convey was
that the name “Coal Oil,” as applied to
“Petroleum” tiow-.vdays, is a humbug—and
as anybody can buy oil from refiners, that
Mr. Elkin’s “Agency,” not Agent, was a
humbug, and so far as the words seem to
apply to Mr. Bleakley, I am sorry they were
uttered, as Mr. B. and myself get oil (at
times), from the same Refinery , and often
(as now), sell it lower than wo can afford to;
and in short, Mr. Elkin’s oil is us good as
can be gotten in the market, North or South,
and my notice referred to was not intended (In
ks form) to injure Mr. 8., or do injustice to
Sir. Elkins—it was not so intended. In
these days ol high prices otic cannot explain
much in an advertisement, and his intentions
are liable to lie misconstrued.
Yours, respectfully,
W. J. Ear it.
