May Ith, to receive and count the returns of ihe election recently ludJ in Georgia, and report for the action of the Major General i otmnanding ilic names of all person , elected, mid the officer, for which elected. 11. In the discharge of this duly, the Board will carefully compare the returns with the ballots uml registration books and lists, will investigate aud report upon any charges of fraud or malfeasance in office ou the part of registrars, managers, or other officers connected with the registration or 1 lie receiving of ballots—and in cases where frauds are detected, or where, from the evidence submit ted, the board are of opinion that from any cause the election should be set aside, their report, with evidence and facts, will be presented to the Major General Commanding. 11l Tbe attention of tire board is particularly directed to tbe revision of the registration during the five days preceding the election, and it will examine into tbe causes assigned by registrars for striking otl names . comparing tlie same with the statements of those whose names have been stricken oil. In any ease of abuse of authority, or insufficient, reasons given on the part, of registrars, the board will report the facts in the ease for the action of ihe .Major Ueueral Commanding. IV. The board are also charged with the duty ol collecting all the facts and evidence in cases where lire eligibility of candidates is disputed, reporting tile result ol their investigations to the Major Gen eral Commanding for his decision and action V. In the execution of the foregoing duties the board are fully empowered with all tire authority requisite for the same—it is authorised to solid for persons and papers—to take testimony on atfida vitrr, and, where necessary, to call on the Com manding officer, sub-District ot Georgia, to make snelr investigations as may be desired.
