A young man hailing from Aiken, 8. C., named W. J. Randall, lias been pteying tho part of Jeremy Diddlcr in tbU city—buying clothing, a gold ring, ole., and hiring a horse and baggy to take a swell on the street, wo suppose. He was arrested on yesterday, under a possessory warrant, und upon arriving at Justice Phiniay’s office, was incontinently robbed of his (7) coat as the property of Messrs. Jordan A t". Randall then borrowed a coat from Simon A L".| deposited a splendid (?) gold ring with tho officers for cost, and under their advice left the bailiwick before a worse thing should come upon him. The coat, gold ring, and sundry buggy rides, remain to be paid for at this writing. This is a last age, and some young bloods are pretty fast. Occasionally they are “brought up all standing,’’ ns in this case, which should boa warning to all ot them. Niortln*in School for f'l-iiiolck. We learn that a school fur females is nlunit to be established at Aiken, S. C., under the auspices of Mrs. Ifecelier Stowe, and her sister in law. Miss Stowe. Tho Ku Klux organ up the street seems to be some what staggered at the idea. We should like to know if it is not infinitely better to have such schools come to us than to send our daughters at a very great expense to them? Another thing—is there not a very great want at the South of high schools, normal schools, preparatory schools, and nil other kinds of schools ? We think there is, and wo would like to have schools, libraries, and lyceums, at every hamlet, village, town, and cross road in the whole South, where the ignorant whites, as well as blacks, could have the opportunity of lifting themselves above their present igno ranee, and of becoming intelligent citizens of the (Treat Republic of North America. We cannot expect a prosperous future without universal education. The sooner we commence tho work, and the more thoroughly we comprehend the subject, the better it will be for all of us. It cures rheumatism, neuralgia bilious cholic, and inflammation of the kid neys, almost instantly. If seized with sudden colds, coughs, influenza, dipthcria, hoarse ness, sore throat, chills, fever and ague, mercurial pains, scarlet fever, etc., etc., take from four to six of Radway’s Pills, and also take a teaspooufut of the Ready Relief in a glass of warm water, sweetened with sugar or honey : L ithe the throat, in-ad mid chest with Ready Relief, (if ague or inter mittent fever, Lathe the spine also), in the morning you will lie cured. How the Relief acts. In a few minutes the patient will feci a slight tinging irrita tion, and the skin becomes reddened ; if there is much distress in the stomach, tlic Relief will assist nature in removing the offending cause—a general warmth is felt throughout the entire body, and its diffusive stimulating properties rapidly courses through every vein and tissue of the system, arousing the slothful and partially paraly zed glands and organs to renewed and healthy action ; perspiration follows, and tho body feels increased heat. The sickness at stomach, colds, chills, headache, oppress ed breathing, the soreness of the throat, and all pains, cither internally or externally, rapidly subside, and the patient falls into a tranquil sleep, awakes refreshed, invigor ated, cured. It will be found that in using tho Relief externally, either on the spine or across the kidneys, or over the stomach and bowels, that for several days after a pleasing warmth will he felt, showing the length of time it continues its influence over the diseased parts. New York Cotton Review, New York, May 22, 1863. We estimate our total export at 76,600 halos for tho twenty weeks, or only 3,500 bales per week. Last year tho exports were more than three times this quantity. We have placed our export nt this low figure to cor/oet, if need be, any greater amount in spinners’ hands than wo have estimated. In relation to our domestic consumption, il is alio difficult to form an idea ; for the year 1607 it averaged 16,000 bales weekly, ami thia year it bus been no doubt rather lorger. On aeeoant of high prieos, dull mar- Inti ter good*, •• IT? Looking at tho poaition of our apinnorr from thia itandpolnt, it would aoom lha a v.ry general roaort to half time was necessary, no matter at what prlco the raw material may rule. Beyond question the goods market ia very doll—it always is in May aud early June—but jobbers have not heavy stocks, and all look for a bruk and early fall trade. Naturally they *eek to lower tho price of goods by breaking tho mprkot for the raw mate rial; if successful for one week, and cotton de clines to an export point of even jd. |»er lb. margin, speculation will hold tho goods market nt its mercy for the next throe months. The great Western cities laid In heavy stocks in December and .January—the rapid advance in cotton enabled them to supply tho country trade at Now York prices at a large pro.'t to themselves; but now their stocks are distributed and the Hast will have to supply both the city anti country trado of the Wost, which promises under the stimulus of largo cereal crops to bo both largo and prompt. These facts scorn well appreciated by holders here, and no one seems unwilling to let prices drop to a quotation where Ma* Chester orders can bo executed and our stock reduced to a poiut whore it will bo but a speculators’ foot ball. If the shipment prove uo larger than our estimate, the amount lotfc for distribution to our mills will bo very small, and if we receive advices of serious injury to the growing crop, by rain, worms, rust or any of tho thousand ills that cotton is heir to, wo may look for a period of wild speculation, unequalled since tho Fall of 1865. Concerning the growing crop, the advices by mail and telegraph aro anything but favorable; from several places we hear of broken levees, und the rain in tho West and Northwest still continues. From tho Atlantic States wc have complaint after complaint con cerning tho backwardness of the season, and in almost every State replanting has been tlic rule rather than tho exception. From .New Orleans wo learn that the army worm had boon discovered already and grave apprehensions as to their future havoc is expressed. Pbillipft’ Provision Exchange. Cincinnati, May 22, 1868. A motion, that the Speaker propound certain questions to tho prisoner, to bo answered forthwith, prevailed. The Speaker announced that the functions of the Managers had ceased. A resolution continuing the committee on corruption investigations prevailed. A protest was made that the committee investi gation, in which the minority was unrepre sented was unparliamentary, was overruled by the speaker, who stated th.it the House controlled, and could entrust investigation to whom it pleased. Motion to add two members who had voted against impeachment, was tabled. Woolley answered with a protest, aud announced himself willing to answer any question which iho House might direct. The managers maintained that the com ruiltee represented authority of iho House, and Woolley had no right to question the propriety of their questions.
