IS- IS. It. Uiulvvay’s I’iils,
Are the only purgative, alterative, and
cathartic medicine that secures a vegetable
substitute for mercury or calomel. They
cure with astonishing rapidity liver com
plaints, kidney diseases, irritation of the
bladder, piles, biliousness, jaundice, dys
pepsia, costiveness, ladies’ complaints, and
all diseases indicating tbe necessity of a
purgative medicine.
Aged people, subject to costiveness, or
paralysis of the bowels, are quickly cured
by these pills.
A gentleman, aged eighty years, who had
uot enjoyed a natural discharge from the
bowels for nearly 40 years, and was always
compelled to resort to injections, was re
lieved by one dose; and by taking four
pills each night for one month, was restored
to sound health and regularity.
These Pills purify Ihe blood, remove all
obstructions from the bowels, liver, skin,
spleen, bladder, etc., and purge out all
corrupt and acrimonious humors. A few
days’ use of these pills will make the skin
smooth, clear, pure, and healthy. They
increase the appetite and flesh.
Dose —For regulating the liver, stomach,
bowels, and promoting digestion, one pill at
night. For obstinate diseases and chronic
complaints, 4to G every 21 hours.
Price, 25 cents per box. Sold by drug

Montgomery, June 11.—Oa the sth of
June, a phper iu this city contained the
following paragraph :
“We are requested by soldiers, on duty at
Ibis place, to state that at the nigger carpet
bag and scalawag meeting, held at the
Capitol, on Saturday night, that the soldiers
cave three groans for Grant, three cheers for
McClellan, and three cheers for Andrew
Johnson. They were given by the soldiers
with a hearty good will, and rolled from the
Capitol to tho Artesian basin. Wo are also
requested by the soldiers to state that any
assertion contrary to this is a base falsehood.
These soldiers say they are white men, and
have no love for carpel buggers and scala
wags.”
In consequence of the above, tho follow
ing order, which appeared yesterday, has
been issued by Gen. Shepherd, commanding
the Sub-District of Alabama :
Headquarters, Sub-District ok Ala
bama, Montgomery, Ala., June Gilt, 18G8.—
General Orders No. 22.—The issue lit' the
Montgomery Advertiser of yesterday con
tains a statement, which, if in tbe slightest
degree trse, deserves the reprobation of
every right minded soldier in this sub
district. The statement alluded to ap
plauds, incites, and stimulates soldiers to
insubordination and disgrace by the publi
cation that some have uttered groans
against the General of cur Army, to whom
the country has awarded such a cotninissiou
for his preeminent services in suppressing a
rebellion aimed at the destruction of our
Republic and our freedom as a people.
The soldiers iu this sub-district are, there
iore, assured that it is a plain duty to rebuke,
in a becoming manner, every effort made by
the publishers of newspapers, or by other
individuals, tending to incite disgraceful acts
and insubordination; and also, to abstain
from any expression of political opinion as
lo persons or parties, L’hus may soldiers
make manifest that they are meritorious, and
incapable of being led astray by the evil
minded, and last of all, by those who have
