MORNING July 7, IM| BEPCBIbicAN PLATFORM, The National Republican party of fl'" United States, assembled in National Convention, in Ute city of Chi cago, on the 20th day of May, 1868, make the following Declaration of Principles : Ist. We congratulate the country on the assured suc cess of the reconstruction policy of Congress, as evinced by the adoption, in a majority of the .States lately in rebellion, of Constitutions securing equal civil and political rights to all, snd regard Lt as the duty of the Government to sustain those institutions, and to prevent the people of such States from being remitted to a state of anarchy. 2d. The guarantee, by Congress, of equal suffrage to all loyal men in the South was. demanded by every con sideration of public safety, of gratitude and of justice, and must be maintained, while the question of suffrage in all the loyal States properly belongs to the people of those States. 3d. We denounce all forms of repudiation as a na tional crime, and the national honor requires tlie pay ment of the publid indebtedness, m the utmost good faith, to all creditors, at home and abroad, not only according to the letter, but the spirit of the laws under which it was contracted. 4th. It is due to the labor of tlie nation that taxation should be equalized and reduced as rapidly as the na tional faith will permit. sth. The national debt, contracted, as it has been, for the preservation of the Union for all time to come, should be extended over a fair period for redamption, and it is the duty of Congress to reduce the rate of in terest thereon, whehever it can honestly be done. lith. That the best policy to diminish out burden of debt is to so improve our credit that capitalists will seek to loan us money at lower rates of interest than we now pay, and must continue to pay, so long as repudiation, partial or total, open or covert, is threatened or sus pected. 7th. The Government of the United States should be administered with the strictest economy, and the cor ruptions which hare been so shamefully nursed and fostered by Andrew Johnson call loudly for radical re- Bth. Wc profoundly deplore the untimely and tragic death of Abraham Lincoln, and regret the accession of Andrew Johnson to the Presidency, who has acted treacherously to the people who elected him and the cause he was pledged to support; has usurped high legislative and judicial functions; has refused to exe cute the laws; has used his high office to induce other officers to ignore and violate the laws; has employed his executive powers to render insecure the property, peace, liberty and life of the citizen; has abused the pardoning power; has denounced the National legisla ture as unconstitutional; has persistently hnd corruptly resisted, by every measure in his power, every proper attempt at the reconstruction of the States lately in re bellion; has perverted the public patronage into an engine of wholesale corruption; and has been justly impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and properly pronounced guilty thereof by the vote of thirty-five Senators. 9th. The doctrine of Great Britain and other European pftwers, that because a man is once a subject, he is always so, must be resisted at every hazard by the United States, as a relic of the feudal time, not author ized by the law of nations, and at war with our national honor and independence. Naturalized citizens are enti tled to be protected in all their rights of citizenship as though they were natural born, and no citizen of the United States, native or naturalized, must be liable to arrest and imprisonment, by any foreign power, for acts done, or words spoken, in this country, and if so arrested and imprisoned, it is the duty of the Government to interfere in his behalf. 10th. Os all who were faithful in the trials of the late war, there were none entitled to more especihl honor than the brave soldiers and seamen, who endured the hardships of the campaign and cruise, and imperilled their lives in the service of the country. The bounties and pensions provided by law for these brave defenders of the nation are obliagtions never to be forgotten. The widows and orphans of the gallant dead are the wards of the people, a sacred legacy bequeathed to the nation’s protecting care. 11th. Foreign immigration, which in the past has added so much to the wealth, development of resources, and increase of power of this nation, the asylum of the oppressed of all nations, should be fostered and encour aged by a liberal and just policy. 12lh. This Convention declares its sympathy with all the oppressed people which are struggling for their rights. Official. GEORGIA LEGISLATURE. Missionary in China, now vi.itiuK hiaborne in Pennsylvania : Washington. Pa., June2s, 1860. Messrs. Perry Davis & Son, Providence, J!. J,. Dear- Sirs —During a residence of soifle ten years as a Missipnary fa Siam and China, I-fouud your vegetable Pain Killer a most valuuldq retaedy for that fearful scourge, the Cholera. In administering the medicine, I found it most effectual to give a teaspdonfu! of Pain Killer in a gill of hot water sweetened with sugar; then, after about fifteen minutes, begin to give a table spoonful ot the same mixture every minute until relief was obtained. Apply hot applications to the extremities. Bathe the stomach with Pain Killer, clear and rub the limbs briskly. Os those who bad the cholera, and took the medicine faith fully in the"way stated above, eight out. of ten recovered. Yours, truly, K TELFORD. If an attack with Diarrhoea, Dysentery, or Cramp Colic, don’t delay the use of the Pain Killer. Bold by all medicine dealers. Price, 25 cents, 50 cents, and $1 per bottle. -MAxrtATrAN, Kansas, April 17,1866. . Gentlemen— * * ' \ want to say a little more about the Pain Killer. I consider it a very riilnablc medieins, ami always keep it on hana. I have travelled a good deal since I Imre been in Kansas, and never without taking it with me, in my practice I used it freely for the Asiatic Cholera, in 1819. ami with better success than nny other medicine ; I also need it here for cholera iu 1855, with the same good result.. Truly, yours, A. HUNTING, M. D. Swato, China. Cholcxa ’ * * * I regret to say that the cholera has prevailed here of late to a fearful extent. For the last three weeks, from ten to fifty or sixty fatal cases each day has been re ported. I should add that the Pain Killer, sent recently from the Mission llonse, has been used with considerable success during this epidemic. If taken in season is generally effectual in check ing the disease. Rev. CHARLES HARDINIG, Sholapore, India. [From the Portland Monthly.] Summer Complaint and Dysentery. Bowel complaints seem just now to be the prevailing element, ami any medicine that is every where acceptable, and that is reliable, is a very desirable acquisition. From what we have seen, heard, and eXperitnced. we believe Davis’ Pain Killer is this desideratum. For the best method of using it, we quote from the directions: “For common bowel complaiuts, give one tea spoouful fa a gill of new milk and molasses, in equal nans, stirred well together; lessen the dose for children, according to the age. Ifthepahi be severe, bathe the bowels and back with the medi cine. This mode of treatment is good In cases of the clielera morbus, sudden stoppages, etc. Re peat the dose every hour. “Thequickest way Lever saw the dysentery cured was by taking one spoonful of the Pain Killer m one' gill of milk and molasses stirred well together and drank lint, et the same time bathing the bowels freely wttfi medicine. Let the dose be repeated every hoar until the patient is relieved.’’’ ’ # If every person who has reason to fear this disease would provide themselves with a bottle of this medicine, ami use as occasion required, we believe a great amount of snfl’eriug and sickness would be saved. je!2-—2m Bichmond County.
