The National Republican party es the United States, assembled in National Convention, in the city of Chi cago, on the 30th day of May, 1888, make the following Declaration of Principles : Ist. We congratulate the country on the assured suc cess of the reconstruction policy of Congress, as evinced by the adoption, in a majority of the States lately in rebellion, of Constitutions securing equal civil and political rights to alt, and regard it as the duty of the Government to sustain those institutions, and to prevent the people of such States from being remitted to a state of anarchy. 2d. The guarantee, by Congress, of equal suffrage to all loyal men in the South was demanded by every con sideration of public safety, of gratitude and of Justice, and must be maintained, while the question of suffrage in all the loyal States properly belongs to the people of those States. 3d. We denounce all forms of repudiation as a na tional crime, and the national honor requires the pay ment of the public indebtedness, m the utmost good faith, to all creditors, at home and abroad, not only according to the letter, but the spirit of the laws under which it was contracted. 4th. It is due to the labor of the nation that taxation should be equalised and reduced as rapidly as the na tional faith will permit. Sth. The national debt, contracted, as it has been, lor the preservation of the Union for all lime so come, Should be extended over a fair period for redemption, and it is the duty of Congress to reduce the rate of in terest thereon, whenever it can honestly be done. 6th. That the best policy to diminish our burden of debt is to so improve our credit that capitalists wilt seek to loan us money at lower rates of interest than we now pay, and must continue to pay, so long as repudiation, partial or total, open or covert, is threatened or sns pCCteil Tth. The Government of the United States should be administered with the strictest economy, and the cor ruptions which have been so shamefully nursed and fostered by Andrew Johnson call loudly for radical rc f°Bth'. We profoundly deplore the untimely and tragic death of Abraham Lincoln, and regret the accession of Andrew Johnson to the Presidency, who has acted treacherously to the people who elected him and the cause he was pledged to support; has usurped high legislative and judicial functions; has refused to exe cute the laws; has used bls high office to induce other officers to ignore and violate the laws; employed his executive powers to render insecure the property, peace, liberty and life of the citizen; has abused the pardoning power; has denounced the National Leglsla tare as unconstitutional; has persistently and corruptly resisted, by every measure in his power, every proper attempt at the reconstruction of the States lately in re bellion; has perverted .the public patronage Into an engine of wholesale corruption; and has been Justly Impeached for high etimes and misdemeanors, and properly pronounced guilty thereof by the vote of thirty-five Senators. 9th. The doctrine of Great Britain and other European powers, that because a man is once a subject, he Is always so, mnet be resisted at every hazard by the United States, as a relic of the feudal time, not author ised by the law of nations, and at war with our national h onor and independence. Naturalized citizens are enti tled *° be protected in all their rights of citizenship as thnnvh *bey were natural born, and no citizen of the UntteJ State ß , native or naturalized, must be liable to arrest and imprisonment, by any foreign power, for acts done or words spoken, iu this country, and If so arrested and inprisoned. it is the duty of the Government to interfere in his behalf. 10th. Os all who were faithful In the trials of the Bte war, there were none entitled to more eepemal honor than the brave soldiers and stamen, who endured the hardships of the campaign and cruise, and imperilled their lives in the service of the county. The bounties and pensions provided by law for these brave defenders of the nation are obllagtlons never to be forgotten. The widows and orphans of the gallant dead are the wards of the people, a sacred legacy bequeathed to the nation s protecting care. 11th. Foreign immigration, which in the past baa added so much to the wealth, development of resources, and Increase of power of this nation, the asylum of the oppressed of all nations, should be fostered and encour aged by a liberal and Jhrt policy. 19th. Thia Convention declares its sympathy with all the oppressed people which are struggling for their rights. Assignee's Sale. REAL. ESTATE. Telford, Missionary in China, upw visiting hia home in Pennsylvania : Washington, Pa., Juno2s, 1866. Meters. Perry ParisA Son, Providence, Rri.; Dear Sirs--Duriug a residence of some ten years as a Missionary in Siam and China, I found your vegetable Pain Killer a most valuable remedy for that fearful scourge, the Clrolera. In administering the medicine, I found it most effectual to give a teaspoonful of Pain Killer in a gill of hot water sweetened with sugar; then, after about fifteen miCHtes, begirt to give a table spoonful ot the same mixture every minute until relief was obtained. Apply hot applications to the extremities. Bathe the stomach with Pain Killer, clear and rnb tbo limbs briskly. Os these who had the cholera, and took the medicine faith fully in the way stated above, eight out of ten recovered. Yours, truly, R TELFQRD. If an attack with Diardicea, Dysentery, or Cramp Colic*, don’t delay the nse of the Pain Killer. Sold by all medicine dealers. Pi ice, 25 cents, 51) cents, and $1 per bottle. Manhattan, Kansas, April 17, 1866. GcnUcmen— * * " I want to say a little more about the Pain Killer. I consider it a vary valuable medicine, and always keep it on hand. I have t ravelled a good deal since I have been in Kansas, and never without taking it with me, lii my practice I used it freely for the Asiatic* Cholera, in 1819, and with better success than any other rnt-dicieo; I also need it here for cltolerasiii 1855, with the same goad result. Truly, yours, A. HUNTING, M. D, Swato, China. Cholcia I * * * I regret to say that the cholera has prevailed here of late to a fearful extent. For the last three weeks, from ten to fifty or sixty fatal cases each day has been re ported. I should add that the Pain Killer, sent recently from the Mission House, has been used with considerable success during this epidemic. If taken in season is generally effectual in check ing the disease, Rev. CHARLES HARDINIG, Sholapore, India. [From the Portland Monthly.l Summer Complaint and Dysentery. Bowel complaints seem just now to be the prevailing element, and any medichie that is everywhere acceptable, and that is reliable, is a very desirable acquisition. From what we have seen, board, and experienced, we believe Davis' Pain Killer is this desideratum. Foj; the best method of using it, we quote from the directions: “For common bowel complaints, give one tea spoouful in a gill of new milk and molasses, iu equal parts, stirred well together; lesseu the dose for children, according to the age. If the pain be severe, bathe the bowels and back with the medi cine. This mode of treatment is good in cases of the cholera morbus, sudden stoppages, etc. Re peat the dose every hour. “The quickest way I ever saw the dysentery cured was by taking One spoonful of the Pain Killer in one gill.of milk and molasses stirred well together and drank hot, at the same time bathing the bowels freelv with medigiue Let the dose, be repeated every hour until the patient is relieved.’’ If every person who lias reasou to fear this disease would provide themselves with a bottle ol this medicine, and nsc as occasion required, we believe a great amount of suffering aud aiekuess w.ould be saved. jol2—2m Special Notice. ns few? ft to H '~b 5 z ffl es tn r* It a- « h-4 Bli 'S- * 02 ■ IB F H b > IB H ; £> p o h : •> I B?~ ° W 1 F I Spectacles Rendered Useless. tp HE MOST EMINENT PHYSICIANS 1 Oculists and Divines recommend the nse of the CORNEA RESTORERS for Presbyopia or Far or Long Sightodness, or every person who wears spectacles from old y.ge ; Dimness of Vision or Blurring; Ovorwu^edeyes; Astheno pia or Weak Eyes; Epiphora, or Watery Eyes; Pain in the Eye-ball; Atnaufosis, or Obscurity of Vision; Photophobia, or Intolerance of Light; Weakness of the Retina and Optic Nerve; Myodesophia, or Specks es Moving Bodies before the eyes; Ophthalmia, or Inflam mation of the Eye and Eyelids, and Imperfect Vision from tbo effect of Inflammation, etc.; Cataract Eyes; Hemiopia, or Partial Blind ness ; and many other Djscases’of the Eye.
