it worthy of the patronage of all good Re
publicans everywhere.

yesterday-sixty-three whites stud thirty-six
colored. The whole number registered up
to the hour of closing yesterday was: whites,
932; colored, 1509.
Present for Pope Pius IX.
The Emperor Francis Joseph had just
seat to the Pope, ns a mark of filial devoted
ness, a magnificent Roman Missal, on which
the best workman of Viena had been engaged
for several years past. The cover is orna

Every Mau Vote.
It is of the utmost importance that every
Republican in Georgia shall vote. The
larger the majority the greater our security
and the more sure we will boos peace,
tranquility and progressive industry. Vote
early, vote right, vote in spite of wind and
weather I
.lames T. llratly Tor Grant.
A private letter from a gentleman likely
to know whereof be speaks, says James T.
Brady, the noted lawyer of New York, here
tofyre a Democrat, will vote for Grant and
the Republican ticket, and would have taken
the stump for Grant had his friends thought
it advisable. — Cincinnati Gazelle.
Idams O. K.
The Hartford Pont says that it violates no
confidence in saying that Hon. Cuaisleu
Francis Adams is in favor of the election
of Grant and Colfax, and that he will so
vote on the 3d of November.
liar Rooms must be Closed.
We would call the attention of the public,
and particularly saloon keepers, to the no
tice of the Mayor in this morning’s paper.
Tire Mayor says that, bar rooms must be
closed on elect ion day’ and from our know
ledge of his Honor’s administrative acts, he
means just what he says, and will enforce
his order at all hazards.
Sheriff Rutlin
Informs the malcontents of tbe city that
he will have a sufficient force at the polls on
Tuesday morning to preserve order, and to
permit anybody and everybody to vole who
has the right ol franchise. To good citizens
wo have nothing to say, but to all evil
minded persons w<> would warn them to be
ware of disturbing the peace of our city on
Tuesday.
On the Stump.
The New York Timut hopes that Gov.
Seymour will extend his stumping tour to
tbe Southern States. And when down
there, we trust ho will tell the colored
men who intend to vote for him whether he
means that it shall bo their last vote.
Vote lor Grant!
The National Intelligencer (Democratic)
says that “ since the result of the October
elections was ascertained, we have been
overwhelmed with interrogatories by our
friends, in almost every part of the coun
try, asking us, * What shall we do to be
saved?’” The only prospect of salva'ion
which the Intelligencer can see is in the
withdrawal of Seymour and Blmk. has
there ever a great political party, at such a
crisis of the campaign as this, in such a
fix?

The Election-Good Advice.
We heartily unite with our Reverend
friflftl of the Banner of the South in earn
estly urging upon our friends everywhere
the importance of observing the strictest
decorum at the polls on Tuesday next. Be
circumspect in your conduct and courteous
with your opponents. You may have much
to try your patience and forbearance; but
remember that you have everything to gain,
and nothing to lo°o, by such patience and
forbearance. A worl, a gesture, or an im
petuous action, might produce a serious dis
turbance ; and so, we ask our friends to be
calm and cautious ; and we sincerely hope
that they will be ; for we want them to come
out of the contest with honor and safety,
even if they do not come out of it with vic
tory.

The Ln Grange Reporter.
Whatever may be said of .the politics of
the proprietors of tbi* journal, no oue pos
sessing a thirtblefull of the practical know
ledge of journalism in all its departments
will deny that they publish (bad luck to
their hateful Democracy, though I) the neat
est and the most elegant weekly newspaper
in the State. We give this "puff " cheer
fully, because wo love the “Black art,” and
delight in those of our fellow-craftsmen
whose taste aaid workmanship do honor to
it. Their views on. advertising are in lull
accordance with our uvn> Price S 3 a year.

bo performed gratuitously by the members of
the Faculty of the Georgia Medical College,

Seward All Right.
Auburn, October 31. Secetary Seward
addressed a large meeting and de
fended Johnson's policy. Ho disap
proved the course of the Radical party ; be
would not take the sword or put it into
another's Land to undo what had been done
even if uituecssary or unwise. He thought
the distrust of Democrats felt by a large
portion of people ought to be respected, and
says he confides in the Republican party,
who saved the Union and abolished slavery.
He believes the success of Democrats woul 1
delay the restoration of peace and harmony.
